Commercial Description:
Volume 5: This new age beer style is a fusion of two great brewing traditions that are worlds apart - a hoppy American Double IPA and a classic Belgian Tripel. Beware the Gnome in the funny green hat!

Athens, Ga. - Five Points Bottle Shop - 22 oz bomber. Pours a murky medium orange with a sticky slightly off-white head. Fruit forward aroma with some peach and apricot notes and some candied sugar notes. Flavor is sweet with some muted citrus, candied sugar, maple syrup and hints of caramel. Slightly muddled but still very flavorful. Mouthfeel is nice and sticky.

Source:22 oz bottle purchased from Midtown in Nashville.
Glass:Tripel Karmeliet tulip.
Appearance:Hazy gold pour with a thin off white head.
Aroma:Resin and flowers, with a hint of sugar.
Flavor:Sweet sugar up front with a resiny finish.
Palate:Medium/full body with solid carbonation.
Overall:A solid cross between a Belgian and an IIPA. This is not a style I care for really, but this was a solid representation.

Sampled at Springsicker’s. Pours golden amber with a dissipating white head. Sweet malty aroma with some fruity esters and sassafras. Initial flavor of sweet pale malts and spicy hops, but transitions to belgian phenols, white pepper, and a hint of alcohol. Not bad but nothing I would seek out.

I’m not a huge fan of Belgian IPA’s, but this was Pretty good. Nice hop bite, and the Belgian yeast isn’t too overpowering. Pretty strong, but drinkable.

Thanks to mora2000 for this bottle. Slightly opaque pour that is light orange in color. The nose has bubblegum, strong alcohol and citrus smells and is quite complex. Despite the alcohol nose it is supremely drinkable and has nice unbitter grapefruit oils. The belgian yeast also plays very well with the hops. I really enjoyed this one.
