Aromas of floral hops, yeasty, and fruitiness. Tastes of the same fruitiness, yeast, floral hops, and lightly earthy. Some spiciness in there as well. On the sweeter side with the alcohol content pretyy much hidden. BillKismet (1952), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 31, 2009 Bronze with a thick, bubbly head. Nice hoppy aroma with a little yeast funk. Interesting fruity, estery, Belgian flavor, and seeming a moderate amount of hops, or at least their presence seems subdued in the face of the yeast. Funky Belgian finish. An interesting style I have been seeing more of lately. Not sure where it should fit stylistically, though certainly would hesistate to call this an IPA/Double IPA/ notalush (2689), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 31, 2009 Thanks to juiceisloose for sending this my way - I was going to save this for a tasting, but someone opened one last night at Pete’s, so screw that - this should probably be listed as a tripel, as it is far more belgian than IPA - anyway, I’m not one to split hairs - aroma is yeasty and slightly musty, with some lemon, vanilla, and honey - hops are present, but don’t quite work with these other aromas - the flavor is quite sweet, with very strong notes of gingerbread, which is quite odd - also notes of belgian yeast phenols abound through the middle - the hops arrive late, but never really give the punch you expect a DIPA hybrid to deliver - sugary finish, coupled with some grapefruitish tang - meh - of all the belgian/ipa hybrids I’ve had, this is probably the worst. bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 31, 2009 Hoppy citrus, a little watery and too thin. Hop aftertaste, light body, pours amber yellow with thin white head. merlin48 (520), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 31, 2009 Bomber pours a clear and radiant amber body with a small white head that disperses quickly with a minimum of lace. Aroma has some soft florals and candy caramel. Light medium body has moderate carbonation. Taste picks things up a bit but this one seems lost between trying to be a Belgian IPA and DIPA with tripel influences. Fruity notes and floral hops interact with some candi sugar and produce some phenolic bandaid notes. This just doesn’t work very well for me. after4ever (2822), Brier, Washington, USA

Yeasty, apricotty, piney nose. Creamy medium body. Sharply fizzy carb. Caramel, biscuit, green apple, apricot, pine, and a bit of resin on the mid-palate. Long resiny finish. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 30, 2009 A nice hybrid beer. Aroma was very nice. A weird mix of apricot and hops. Pour was a bubble hazy orange with a one finger off white head. Taste was as expected. An IPA (not IIPA in my opinion) fermented with a Belgian yeast strain. The flavor doesn’t push the envelope on either the IIPA or Belgian side. Tastes like a thin IPA with bubblegum sitting in the bottom. With all that negative I’ve given, the beer is actually very good. Just not overly tasty.
