Commercial Description:
Pumpkin beers have been an American tradition since the pilgrims hit Plymouth Rock while Oktoberfest beers have been brewed in Germany since not long after Prince Ludwig got hitched in 1810. Now Terrapin is “carving” out our own special brew by combining these two great styles into a unique PUMPKINFEST beer...This Side Project has all the complex maltiness of a great Oktoberfest lager with the delicate spiciness of grandma’s fresh baked pumpkin pie.

This poured an orange color with an off white head. Aroma was light pumpkin, some spices and some roasted malt. Flavor was very bland. like an oktoberfest with cinnamon crushed in it but lighter. Not my cup of beer.

Bottle: pours a clear amber color with a small off white head. Aroma is full of spice plenty of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, a little bit of the pumpkin comes through also. Flavor is also has plenty of the spice and lots of pumpkin, no hops but very drinkable and a nice pumpkin beer.

sample. a deep copper color... nice pumpkin / spice aromas... medium body filled with typical pumpkin notes along with nutmeg, sweet malts and other spices. Really nice overall flavors throughout. on the end this one leaves a very pleasant feel in the mouth. nice pumpkin ale with a Oktoberfest twist... I definitely picked up more of the pumpkin side.

Bomber from jrob21 – thanks, bra! Room-filling pumpkin pie spice out of the bottle with vanilla and dark earthiness singing backup. Beautiful red-amber with a short sudsy beige head. Taste is fizzy dark Oktoberfest malt with a hint of pumpkin beer, but I’d say the blend is somewhere between 3:1 and 3:2. Fat malty body and no big alcohol. Mildly satisfying, though I’d love more from the pumpkin side, especially considering the good concept (otherwise this is a spiced Oktoberfest in need of some punch).

Copper-red pour with a lot of visible carbonation and a lasting creamy white head. Aroma is pumpkinesque with heavy cinnamon. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Normal pumpkin pie flavors for the style. No hint of weird off-tastes or funkiness. Straight up pumpkin brew. Nice body, rather tasty.

22 oz. bottle. A slightly hazy rust-colored pour with an average-sized light-tan head. An aroma of caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and vanilla. Medium-bodied. Tastes as it smells - sweet caramel upfront with a good deal of the aforementioned spices throughout. A biscuity/graham cracker maltiness. On the crisp side. Not a bad effort.

Bomber. Pours a brilliant, clear copper with decent khaki head. The aroma is autumnal spices--cinnamon stands out most to me, but I detect some nutmeg, clove, and a sort of molasses note, too. The flavor is distant caramel malt, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, graham crackers, and molasses. There’s a leafy bitterness keeping it from getting sweet at all. Fairly straightforward, but tasty enough.
