Tap. Heavy malt aromas of toasted and strong coffee, light resin for the hops and a moderate note of leather for the yeast, with hints of wood, soy sauce and dried berry. Head is small, creamy, light brown with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is black. Flavor is heavily sweet and lightly acidic to start, and is moderately bittersweet and a touch sour in the long finish. Palate is medium to full, between creamy and syrupy and has a soft carbonation. It finishes moderately alcoholic. A little too sweet with a huge coffee aspect, but an excellent Imperial Stout nonetheless.

On tap at Mojo’s Broadway in Nashville. Pours black, with a dense tan head. Big coffee flavor up front, sweet like a milk stout with a nice hint of alcohol to the finish. Poured too cold and the venue has too many smokers to really enjoy the beer.

Deep black mocha head, w/ soapy, pillowy and lasting ring, although restrained. A bittering dusty quality is first evident with a piny espresso nose with similar but thinned experience on the palate. Caramel and vanilla were prominent as well as a robust pineapply fruity coffee touch. The complexity of this brew evolved significantly as it warmed and was fully expressed pretty much at room temperature. Not bad, although i couldnt detect much oatmeal. I was pretty impressed but for some reason the cool, happy turtle on the label makes me wish my score was higher.

Thanks to Daknole for sending this one. Bottle pours thick and black with a full brown colored head. Aroma is strong presenting mostly bitter coffee, some malts, oats, and dried fruits. Taste has an unbelievable coffee presence, oats, with a toffee finish. Roasted bitterness.

This beer pours out very thick, like motor oil, with almost no head at all even with a vigorous pour. The aroma is roasty with oats and coffee but the scent is far from powerful. The flavors here are very good and pretty much as adverstised, tons of coffee and oats with roasted malts and a little bitterness in the finish. The subtle aroma had me thinking this might be lacking but in the end the beer was quite tasty.

Bottle. Moderately sweet apple oatmeal and chocolate aroma. Near black body, small brown head. Flavor is malty, coffee, chocolate, moderately sweet. Quite delicious.

Pours jet black with a smallish creamy off white head. Aroma is huge roasted coffee, chocolate, malt. Flavor is dark roasted malt, creamy chocolate with a huge bitter coffee finish. This one is very nice but it was somewhat thin in body.
