Maria (3963), Thisted, Denmark Aug 3, 2007 Thank you Yngwie for sharing this nice coffee-stout! It’s pitch black with a dark brown and creamy head, and the beers is oily, sticking to the glass for a long time, and the mouthfeel is oily. The aroma is COFFEE. sweet coffee, roasted malt, some chocolate and oats. The flavour is smooth and dominated by sweet coffee. chocolate, oat-crackers and the body is full and fulfilling. The finish is sweetish and roasted, and it’s difficult to let go of this very nice beer - yummiii! 2446
Homer321 (63), Rockledge, Florida, USA Aug 19, 2008 ’08 batch, about 6 months old. Wow. pours black with a nose of chocolate and coffee. slight smokiness to this bottle. taste is obvious coffee, but in a very good balance. One fine beer. Slipstream (344), USA Aug 17, 2008 Bottle from 2006. Built by Athens, Georgia’s Terrapin Brewing with Jittery Joe’s coffee beans, or so says the label. There is also a cute drawing of a turtle baking cookies and drinking stout - is this beer meant to be consumed along with cookies? Black pour with light, dark lid. Aroma of sweet coffee and alcohol, some gentle hops too. The flavor is medium strength sweet coffee - good coffee too, thanks, Jittery Joe. There are some spunky hops and faint grassy notes, but the coffee dominates, and it tastes good - but I have mixed feelings about using coffee as the basis for a beer. For one thing, both are diuretics. Also, caffeine is a stimulant - do you really want stimulants in your beer? I don’t. Another complaint I have is that this does not seem rich enough to be a true imperial stout. But if you like coffee beers, this is a good one. Another thank you to Adrian. BMan1113VR (762), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Aug 17, 2008 2008 Bottle from ucusty. Very viscous pour with a slow rising huge, tightly backd dark brown head. Black body. Good lacing. Aroma of toasted and roasted barely, coffee, cinnamon, chocolate and some vanilla. Taste is great, sweet chocolate with a light but noticable alcohol alcohol presence. My sort of stout. Syrupy body with light carbonation. sleepylopes (270), New York, USA Aug 6, 2008 Fantastic malt but not in the typical beer sense, like a malt shake. A bit thick and with that quality in flavor that is a com thread in good big stotus and porters. Finish dry and stiff. Sweet oatmeal lace and milk choclate in the nose. DerBiermeister (362), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Jul 19, 2008 Thick, resiny, sinewy, smokey, chocolatey, oatmealy, filling: Terrapin Wake-n-Bake Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout.
