A pitch black beer with a disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong chocolate notes as well as lovely roasted malt notes, combined with light notes of coffee. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of chocolate and wood, as well as hints of vanilla. The end is dry.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours an opaque, pitch black with a small, light brown head. Vinous, alcoholic aroma. Medium-bodied with very roasted coffee accents and some dried fruit. Huge, warming alcohol. Lightly sweet with a discreet bitterness. Very smooth and pleasant. 030606

Bottled. Pours oily and very black. Syrupy apple aroma. Very sweet and thick. Heavily malty with some molasses and a sticky, yet hard mouthfeel. Somewhat phenolic with notes of toffee. Low bitterness. What a mess...

[ Trade by GAManiac ]. Clear dark black color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, burnt, coffee, oats, moderate chocolate. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft. [20090721]

Bottled. Pitch black colour, brown mediumsized head. Aroma is roasted malts, caramel and dark chocolate. Also lack coffee. Flavour is licorace, coffee, roasted malts and slight hoppy bitternes. Lovely brew.

Bottle. Black coloured with a beige head. Light roasted aroma with notes of malts and coffee. Light roasted flavour of coffee with notes of dried fruits. Light roasted finish.

Overall: finally a black roasted coffee stout without the astrengent malt bitterness

Overall: mostly unchanged other than the fruit that’s starting to show up

Body: creamy body with a slight oily oatmeal character
Flavor: lots of coffee flavor, touch of sweet licorice, dry dark chocolate, nice bitterness lingers into the finish, a bit of fruit shows up in the fresh bottle that doesn’t show until a year later in the 2006, much more coffee than the 2006 but no astrengent bitterness that normally comes with the heavy coffee, a notch below the 2006

Dark brown, not much head. The aroma is fairly bright oatmeal and coffee with a bit of chocolatey accent. Light coffee, chocolate flavours and quite a bit of oatmeal. Overall a lighter beer than I was expecting, but the brightness appeals to me.
