awebster (165), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jun 5, 2006 A great stout. Thick, dark, rich. Not overly bitter. Full aroma of roasted barley, coffee, and chocolate.
hrking (65), Muncie, Indiana, USA Jan 9, 2009 This is a great beer the coffee stout can be so in your face over done but this one splits the grain to perfection not over done like the Founders in your face coffee breakfast stout. This beer has a smoother not as thick or in your face and virtually no alcohol presence. How this beer is not rated above the Founder Breakfast Stout is beyond me this beer rocks . If you are a fan of stouts or coffee stouts this one is worth seeking out. Recommend..Perfect balance between the flavors with the chocolate oatmeal and coffee coming together in harmony. The nose is all about coffee but the flavor is all about the harmony... Snojerk321 (1156), San Diego, California, USA Jan 9, 2009 12 oz bottle via trade with Acknud. Pours black with a medium sized milk chocolate head that diminishes quickly. Big time coffee on the nose with some chocolate, toffee and toasted malts as well. Finish was creamy and smooth. Taverner (554), San Ramon, California, USA Jan 7, 2009 Thanks to Secretsanta! This one has a perfect, strong coffee taste up front. The aroma is coffee, the flavor is coffee and the finish is coffee. If you love coffee, this is YOUR beer. Pours a black with tan head. Also notes of licorice, chocolate and smoke in there. markwise (450), Just North of Tampa, Florida, USA Jan 5, 2009 Thanks kiefdog for the share. Wow. I did not really like coffee stouts, but this one is not like every other one I have had. She pours black with a dark brown head. Nose is like walking into a Starbucks: spice chocolate, lots of coffee aromas, and a twinge of licorice. Some yellow on swirling. Flavor is the same with sweet, earthy coffee and some milk. Very nice. If coffee drank like this I would drink more coffee. Dogbrick (2427), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jan 5, 2009 Thanks to Rogueone for sharing a growler. This beer pours black as night with a medium thin light brown head that recedes steadily. Rings of lacing. Aroma of coffee beans and some chocolate. Rich body with flavors of roasted coffee, hops and chocolate. The finish is dry and moderately bitter coffee and burnt malt, with a lingering chocolate espresso aftertaste. Enjoyable overall.
