I’ve had this fresh and on 2 years of age. Both experiences were absolutely fantastic! A thick black and nicely reddish tanned head gives way to an ever so powerful coffee flush amidst thick dark malts and a nice blend of finishing hops. Not the thickest Impy Stout, but still remains heavy enough. Aging is definitely recommended for at least a year.

2006 bottle courtesy kp - thanks! Pours black with a very dark, and very thin, tan head. Aroma is beautiful...velvety milk chocolate, roasted coffee, and a decent level of alcohol...at least for a beer that’s been sitting for 2 years with a listed ABV of 8.1%, but wow does it work well together. Flavor is robust...bitter roasted coffee, a melding of sweet and dark chocolate, and some burnt malts. Palate is average for an imperial stout. Have another one to try in the future, and that’s a good thing, because I’ve been pretty impressed with the brews I’ve had from Terrapin!

both the beersommelier and kp sent me this and wow what a great beer. Black ass pour with a brown head...aromas are booze, molasses, chocolate, and coffee. Flavor is sweet with some nice chocolate tones and some great espresso notes. Great beer. Glad I have more to savor! YES!

2008 12 oz. botlle from MaltOMeal- many thanks! Served in snifter- poured perfectly black, light carbonation of tiny bubbles, dark tan ring around the glass for a head. Strong aroma of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and smoke. Hits the mouth with a wide body- although the initial feel is very heavy, the malt makes things come back into balance but you still know what you have in your mouth, brown sugar and roasted oats are in the background in the middle, finish has mild alcohol taste and unfortunately drops off a little too rapidly. Couldn’t think of a better one for a night cap!

12 oz. bottle, 2007 batch, courtesy of The_Beer_Cellar. Thanks Matt! Dark brown pour, thick looking, with almost no head. Sweetish aroma of brown sugar, oatmeal and raisins. Taste is bitter coffee, oatmeal, chocolate and dark fruits. Taste and aroma are reminiscent of delicious cookies. This beer is spot on right now.

Bottle, courtesy of redlight. Pours pitch black with a pretty tightly bubbled small tan head. Huge aroma of coffee backed up with chocolate and caramel, touch of vanilla. Again lots of coffee and chocolate in this. Caramel malt and a fair bitter hop end. Drying coffee end, fairly thick not a ton of carbonation.
