| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 25, 2009 2009 Bottle. Pours a jet black hue with a thick tan head that sustains and leaves creamy lacing on the glass. Nose is dominated by huge roasted coffee and espresso aromas, hints of very light grassy hops. Flavor follows suit with coffee, roast, and milk chocolate malts dominating from the start, moderate hop bitterness and mild hop earthy-grassy flavors for balance, hints of oats perceived more in the texture but also present, finishes slightly sweet. Full body, creamy smooth and velvety texture, moderate carbonation. Overall, a prime example of a coffee stout with excellent balance and texture, the 8%abv is well-masked but this is so filling that I don’t think I would drink more than one at a time, delicious! rags2rags (29), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 22, 2009 On tap at Taco Mac. Poured black as coal with a finger of dense tan head. Aroma is coffee, coffee, coffee. So is the taste, with some added notes of bittersweet chocolate and sugar. It reminded me of an Americano. If you like coffee, booze, and mixing your pleasures, you’ll enjoy this beer. dimenhetfield (220), , Florida, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 14, 2009 Solid black pour with a thick brown head. Aroma is heavy espresso, milk chocolate, and roast coffee beans. Taste is more like coffee than beer with a sweetness beginning then hits the back of the tongue unleashing bitter coffee. Rich velvety smoothness with mild carbonation. Finishes with coffee and cocoa flavors.
