| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Aug 23, 2004 The official beer of English rugby, if I’m not mistaken. Um, just short of decent, a weird very bitter taste. Slightly crisp. Not something I’d prefer. vanvenlo (794), Glen Iris, Australia

Head retains, good sheet lacing, amber clear colour. Flavour isa fruity hop, leaves some sweetness and some hop bitterness, light mouthfeel, smooth flat ana a lingering bitterness. pobenohne (504), Northern Liberties, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 21, 2004 On draft at the Old Bay. Served under nitrogen, great creamy and long lasting head. Lots of great malt, easy on the hops, easy on the alc. Excellent session ale, great at happy hour (compare to Yards hand pumped ESA) DanielBrown (1919), Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, England
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Aug 20, 2004 Nitro keg at a cricket club pavillion, nr Drayton Manor Park. OK, palatable, but uninspiring beer. Nice tawny colour, and the nitro stylee, does indeed make it very smooth and creamy. Sweet flavour, medium bitterness only and toffe notes. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 12, 2004 Orange to brown colour, high white head. The official description is quite right: soft and creamy. Good hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. CamdenD (625), Madrid, Spain
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jul 20, 2004 A beer made to taste like a bitter, I suppose. Avoid at all costs unless on cask. The "smoothflow" crap is just miserable, as is the widget can. Basically, you can find a better bitter pretty much anywhere. shrubber85 (3014), Wallhalben, Germany

Not bad - malt/hop aroma, dark tan color, low carbonation with full malt and moderate hops flavor with typical ale sweetness with a bit more bitterness to it than other English bitters. Not bad but not my favorite bitters.
