Some caramel malt, metallic hops, and, strangely, some cloves in the aroma. Very bland flavour, with a touch of bitterness and some light sweetness. Very piss-weak palate - even for 3.8% abv - and a very metallic feel. The smooth nitrogenation seems to exacerbate the weakness. Very easy to drink, but it’s not particularly interesting. A good choice if you want to be drinking beer and you don’t want it to taste like beer or get you intoxicated! Papsoe (15103), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Soft, slightly caramelish malty notes with only a faint hint of hops. A standard mass consumption Bitter. 270802 iammadeofjelly (183), Liverpool, Merseyside, England

| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/20 | Nov 5, 2005 Truly disappointing. Taste of a little malt, a little bitterness, a little floral hoppiness. Didn’t have the artificially beautiful appearance of a widget beer, but it did have the insipid mouthfeel of a nitrogen widget can. Weirdly off, herbal flavors; actually made me think of iced tea. Maybe with sugar and lemon this would have been a drinkable version of a shandy; as it is, though, it is drain pour. Nothing about it was enjoyable. Among the worst; in some sense less enjoyable than a Michelob. This is enough to make me eager for a Heineken. bluevegie (2215), Perth, Australia
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 30, 2005 Amber golden body with a small head that hung around for the distance. Fairly smooth taste "as I was expecting", nutty, burnt caramel and resiny hops also a bit of butterscotch but overall fairly bland and no real guts. scotty (834), Scotland

Re the commercial description, why does a higher alcohol content " meet the need of the home-based drinker"? Lubiere (4549), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Aroma of light caramel malts, and grass. Good session ale with nice malts, woody in character, and a nice hops in finish, crisp and British. Medium bodied. Bought in Halifax, March 2005, non widget Original Bitter can. NoiZe (1372), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands
