| 0.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 2/20 | Sep 5, 2005 Beer No 9 on the Wilsons’ Road Trip 2005. Nitrokeg at Twirl of Hay Brewer’s Fayre, Chester. Another apalling nitrokeg version of a beer which once held some appeal. Brownish with nitro head. Unlike the Boddies you can just about make out some beer like aromas through the nitrogen - mainly malt, caramel. Disgusting nitro mouthfeel. Mild minerally aftertaste with a very small amount of hop bitterness. Shudder. Tetley’s tends to be a good beer that is widely available, but have the Imperial if you’re after the proper stuff (if you can get hold of it). Translucent copper appearance, it’s carbonated and quite bitter but the head tends to fizz out. Very good flavour, full of toffee/caramel/nut malt though I suppose there’s not that much in the way of finish. 3.8% ABV is quite common for a standard bitter but seems pretty weak for me, though it’s probably my personal favourite party session beer. Overall good. IslandHaole (1035), Onna-Son, Okinawa-Ken, Japan

| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | May 21, 2005 Very little to say. Everything about this beer is mediocre. You’d drink it if it was the only pint on offer. Aroma is faint and possibly malty. A flat (no, flaccid) taste, a hint of bitterness, but not enough. Boring. No character or personality. Anywho, this one is passable, but not very good, with typical flavors and aromas. It is fairly smooth.
