maeib (4677), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Sep 20, 2009 Cask conditioned Handpump Sun Kislingbury A dark gold coloured beer with a ring of off-white bubbles. An old fashioned beer with yeasty and fruity notes. Minimal hops but an interesting bittersweet balance with yeasty notes and some sulphur. Acceptable but old fashioned
Straling (185), Heerlen, Netherlands Jun 11, 2009 On tap.
Pours a murky coppor colour with little carbonation and an acceptable head.
Smell is a bit vague to me, being bitter (duh) and fruity at the same time.
Taste is very vague also, not alot to taste there really.
It’s not really bad, but nothing to speak highly of. BroSpud (583), , Massachusetts, USA Feb 22, 2009 Cask. Multiple tastings (remembered from previous tastings) Drank plenty of these while spending a summer in England. Thought they were good but don’e remember thinking they were anything special. EFC1878 (291), Manchester, Greater Manchester, England Nov 30, 2008 Cask various locations - nearly always the same. Coppery brown colour with tight white head. Little aroma to speak of, and what there is is mostly malt. Light bitterness, low carbonation, slightly dry finish. Nothing outstanding, this beer is probably best drunk close to source in West Yorkshire. tarjei (1741), Bryne, Norway Jul 20, 2008 Pint cask at The Drove, Newhaven. Brown color, creamy white head. Aroma is fruity. Flavor is fruity, with some sweet caramelmalt, hints of hops. DruncanVeasey (2690), The Penguin’s Arms, Europe, Warwickshire, England Jul 13, 2008 Sups of Pa Jenner’s in Brum. Everything else that was real had ran out. Tight nitro collar from the cask. Totally still. Meek watery raisin and caramel. Very English. Who else would put up with it? Could drink a gallon without slurring, but will almost certainly never drink again. Unless I’m trapped at a wedding reception where the Guinness is £5 a pint. OK. evilsoc (191), Wales Mar 6, 2008 This really surprised me. Nice dry-hopped aroma, straw malt with plenty of hop flavour and a good lasting dryness. More bitter than most "bitters". Maybe I enjoyed it more because I expected blandness in the first place but it’s nice and it’s sessionable, definitley. albertane (376), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Feb 23, 2008 Cask at the Lord Roberts, Nottingham. Amber colour, slight fruit aroma, tastes of fruity malt with some bitterness and sourness. Very traditional but nothing special.
