Draught at Mr. Pickwick’s Pub in Biel, Switzerland. It pours a nut brown beer with a beautiful dense whitish head that doesn’t diminish at all. Lots of tiny bubbles rise from the bottom just after the beer has been poured. A beautiful bitter with an impressive lacing! Flowery aromas of caramel, peaches, honey, wild strawberries, nuts, hops of a good blend and quite a lot of vanilla. The nose indeed is just wonderfully fruity, flowery, earthy and rich with maybe just a slight staleness detectable. Up to this point this beer seems to be almost perfect! A very smooth mouthfeel follows, strong caramel flavours, some wood. The sweet elements in the taste are well balanced by the moderate bitterness. Extremly smooth. Unfortunately, this beer is quite watery. Some green apples in the finish. Despite this beer’s slightly flat taste it isn’t bad at all in my opinion. A nutty and fruity aftertaste. Extremly drinkable. I didn’t expect this bitter to be that good!

Dark amber color. Thick beige creamy head. Fresh light hoppy scent. Low to medium bitterness. Very refreshing. Fruity aftertaste.

This really surprised me. Nice dry-hopped aroma, straw malt with plenty of hop flavour and a good lasting dryness. More bitter than most "bitters". Maybe I enjoyed it more because I expected blandness in the first place but it’s nice and it’s sessionable, definitley.

This cask beer is so much better than the canned counterpart. This has sulphur on the nose and a fantastic fruitiness.

Cask: Dove & Olive Branche, Grasmere. Late summer 2004. Amber color, lasting creamy head. Hoppy seaweed aroma. Sweetish, malty flavor with some butterscotch and still a fair deal of hops. Grassy, seaweed finish. Much better as I expected.

Smooth, hint of caramel, looks fantastic when settling. Very drinkable. Widely available in Yorkshire.

Slightly bitter hop finish. 6. Cask Handpump at the Coachman, Hartford 07/07/2005 Amber fruity slightly hoppy. Some dryness in a lasting malt finish. 7. Cask Handpump at the British Lion, Crewe 23/09/2007 Hop aroma. Small white head. Amber golden coloured and hoppy with a bitter lasting malt finish. 8. Cask Handpump at the Cross Keys, Crewe 28/12/2007 Floral and hop aromas. Small white head. Amber coloured and hoppy with a crisp and slightly bitter full malt finish. 9. Cask Handpump at the Red Lion, Stockton Heath 17/02/2008 Malt and some hop aroma. White head. Amber coloured a little hoppy and floral with hints of dryness and bitterness in a crisp and pale malt finish. 10. Cask Handpump at the Circus Tavern, Manchester 17/03/2008 Floral and hop aromas. Small white head. Golden coloured and smooth on the palate with a crisp and slightly bitter full malt finish.

Cask at The Red Lion (Westminster - London).
Creamy and compact head, Irish type, good persistence and duration. Red clearly color, much limpid and stationary. Bitter and pleasant scent; malr and cereal notes with rumors of wood, resin and ash. Smooth, dry, little alcoholic and much bitter taste. Medium duration final.
