When I order an English beer like this, it’s not because I want a ton of flavor - it’s because I like the creamy mouthfeel of it. It is what it is - whenever I’m in the mood for something like this it’s very satisfying. Tranquillity (1167), Espoo, Finland

Very sweet caramel in the aroma. Sweet taste with a nice bitter tinge attached to it, not too strong though. Good aftertaste, slightly bitter. Not a bad session beer accompanied by for example Murphy’s. eaglefan538 (2403), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 2, 2006 From the widget can, Tetleys English Ale, 3.8%. I enjoy the widget-nitro appearances, and this one had the nice gradual separation of the head from the body. Head remaind 1cm thick the entire drink, lacing was good. Nice amber, not quite copper color. The aroma was weak, some grass and honey. The flavor was tea bags (ok, maybe it’s the term, "Tetleys," but I was convinced), caramel, honey, light bittered hops, and a little bit of a plastic aftertaste. Watery mouthfeel was too light to stand this out, but it wasn’t a bad lawn mowing beer. KingofCastle (202), London, Ontario, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jun 12, 2006 440 mL can: Disappointing, what happened to Tetley’s can’s lately? This beer used to be a half decent ale from the can but now it is flat with none of the fuller flavour it used to have! Great creamy head with amazing gold colour, but what a thin, soft body. That malty aroma only disappoints into a watery yet clean finish. Maybe there are just a bunch of crappy cans out there. You might promote this a "refeshing ale" but this wasn’t meant to be one, it’s just sad. Just go for a better English ale any day. voota (765), Melbourne, Australia
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 30, 2006 Canned with widget, as expected.. a great cremy head with cream like lacing. Deep golden body. Toasty honeyish aroma, thin body but decent balance and a clean finish. Has a weird kind of sweetness in there, almost an unfermented taste. Anyway, its pretty solid really. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 21, 2006 Can with widget. Dark amber color with an average creamy off-white head that diminished slowly. Light toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a creamy watery texture. Balanced light sweet bitter flavor and finish of short duration. Drinkable for a nitro can. sinkhole (178), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 25, 2006 Canned widget. Creamy light brown head, with very little carbination and clear bown colour. Some malt aroma and taste with a bit of a hop bitterness at the end. I would like to try it on tap but for now I’d rate it as decent. WhiteSoxFan (152), USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 21, 2006 Can with Widget. Does the Nitro / Guiness dance, which is pretty cool. After that is done it is a super clear copper with a nice thick head that hangs around for a long time. Not much aroma at all. Tiny bit of caramel malt maybe. Not a ton of flavor either, but it is alright and refreshing. I would say well balanced, not hoppy, not really overly complex with the malts either. Mouthfeel is typical nitro, really creamy, not a lot of carbonation, smooth finish. It’s kind of an easy drinkin’ nitro esb.
