Commercial Description:
Nitro Keg Ale and Canned Widget Ale. An export strength beer brewed specifically for countries outside the UK. It has the same smooth and creamy characteristics as Tetley's Smoothflow and incorporates a full drinking flavour. It is well balanced with a complex range of malty and hoppy notes, enhanced by a fruity aroma. Like Tetley's Smoothflow, it is served at 8°C to give extra refreshment.

Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is mild with some caramel malts and a decent hop character. Sweet at first with the malts but finishes slightly bitter from the hops. A pretty decent bitter.

Review done with canned version, not on tap - which is a little better. Sure it’s got the usual brilliant cascade, the insanely thick off-white pillow on top and the nice clear medium brown apperance which is nothing new, and although quite the scene to watch unravell, this is what you get from the average english pub draught. What gives this beer the extra appeal is the inside the liquid lacing on my glass everytime is pound more back - and my glass is still covered in a bubbly film from the pour. Sweet caramelly aroma comes along with the unknown aroma that dominates your nose - there’s something dark there...and then the aftersmell of something left in a gymbag creeps up on you. Try not to review this too cold or it has almost no qualities. Very smooth, but it feels like I’m drinking wax. Mildly bitter. Looks like I’m going to have to use an industrial strength cleaner or a pressure washer to rid my glass of the massive moraines left from the glacier-like head. Tastes like soap! Mmm! Mmm! Soapy good. Anyone else have flashbacks of their parents washing their mouthes out with Jerkins Soft Soap for using the word "twat"????? Probally. Good thing the flavour doesn’t last. Mouthfeel remnants is no more than a thick spit. Taste is no more than malts and mildly flavoured hops. Thank god I’m done choking back the last of this crap beer. Christ, I’ve got 3 more to drink.....

Weak aroma of sweet malt. Pours a clear golden amber with a two finger creamy head that stays for the entire session. A great looking beer. Flavor is weak and simplle, some malt, a touch of hops. Not much going on here. Drink it cold and it’s my type of lawn mower beer.

on tap with the name "Tetley’s Pub Ale" at my local british pub in phoenix, az.\ the nose was weak and unremarkable, mildly malty. taste was yeast and malts, with mild hops, no complexity, dry mouthfeel, and one of the most boring bitter flavors I can remember. All around a dud. Not really worth your time if you like anything good at all.

yeasty, very little carbonation and a subtle hay and hop aroma. Flavor is mild and yeasty. Not too bad, but a little old I think

Widget can. Pours a lovely thick lasting head of good duration, with attractive lacing over a clear (SRM 12) body.....nose is light of light English style hops, no pine, no citrus, mild malts....taste is generally light, dry with some malt and mild hop.....mouth feel is light and watery...this meets its style.

Widget can. Basic beer smell when opened. Pouring gives a nice Guinness surge, leaving a thick creamy head over a reddish-gold body. The "pub pour" give the beer a nice silky texture and appearance, but the taste in not quite equal to the presentation. Then again, this is an "ordinary" bitter. Midway down, with my nose in the glass, I get some English hops. Not as terrible as some have claimed, but this is the typical "warm, flat beer" our boys in England joked about during W-W-2.

Pours a creamy, milk-like substance that eventually turns out to be beer. Very Guinness-like in the theatrics. Aroma is bland, and vaguely of caramel or cheap candy. Flavor is indeed creamy, but that’s all it has going for it. Very weak flavor, again reminiscent of Guinness, though these are reportedly different genres. Could’ve fooled me. Mouthfeel is like water. In the end, this stuff is a waste of time and liver power. Overall, poor.
