Slightly aged sample Medium but dense, creamy off-white head; orange-foxy beer with a slight haze all the same. Bit of caramel or even toffee, yet not overly sweet nose. Some extra smell that reminds me both of honeysweets and... stinging nettles? Caramel, and a discreet hoppy bitterness that has a metallic, even galvanic tang to it. Bit smoked, but not as smoked malt nor ashes. Reasonably refreshing, bit gassy. Something vaguely (hazel)nutty in the aftertaste. The "Imperial" name is less than clear. It’s a decent bottled ale, for sure. Thanks to podge, who yielded to my stubborness.

Bottled, Pasteurised. Brown to amber beer with a white head. Decent enough mid roast malt bitter, nothing special but never expacted it to be. Smooth and a little bitter. Middle of the road.

Bottled. A mid brown coloured beer with no head. The aroma is malty with fruits and some toffee. The taste has a bit of butterscotch; caramel and malts. Quite a good effort.

For starters, the aroma is nice and floral with touches of caramel. Tastes OK, too. Toffee, caramel and some nutiness are present. Nice burnt toffee bitterness to finish. Suprisingly OK for a Tetleys.

Deep ruby in colour, with a slightly nutty flavour, but this was rough and didnt work

Bottle. This is actually a very nice bottle of beer. Tastes of confidence and experience. Nice brown sugar flavours, caramel and toffee with a gentle balance of hops. Very drinkable. [2.8]

Draught at The Black Horse Inn, Whitby. Pours a clear very deep orange-red with an average size off-white head. Mild aroma of hops, some mild roastness and a hint of smoke (didn’t expect that). Flavour’s a little toasty, less sweet and fruity then most of the Bitters I’ve had here which is a refreshing change, more bitter as well. Some caramel malt and nuts in there too. Medium bodied. Pretty enjoyable stuff.

Basic caramel ale appearance, with a bitter and slightly sweet nose. Caramelish bitter beer with a quite dry finish. Overall a reasonable bitter.
