SHIG (1731), Oberoffligen, Germany Nov 3, 2008 Bottle: Poured a dark brown with a creamy off white to beige head. The aroma is dark fruit and roasted malts. Taste is roasted malt and more fruit, there is a nice alcohol burn that makes my palate come alive. Finish is sticky and dry.
MiP (6742), Flensburg, Germany Jan 3, 2009 Bottle, 7.5%. Good creamy aroma. Dark brown colour, seems a little hazy. Small stable light brown head. The flavour is also creamy, but seems a little dry. Hint of vinous aftertaste. yespr (8544), Copenhagen O, Denmark Dec 30, 2008 30 cL bottle. Pours hazy brown with a nice, dense and light brown head. Solid roasted malt aroma with a yeast and alcohol bite in the nose. Sweet malt flavoured with a distinct dry phenolic touch on the back of the nose. Nicely counterbalanced with a solid hops note and lasting bitterness to break the dense malt flavours. oh6gdx (6600), Vaasa, Finland Nov 18, 2008 Bottled (ABV 7%, thanks jbrus!). Dark rubyish brown colour with big creamy/fluffy off-white head. Aroma is dark fruits, some slight roasted notes as well as a minor touch of metallicness. Flavour is toffee, roasted malts, mildly smoked wet wood, plum, some spices as well as some sllight burning alcohol. As it warms also the toffeeishness as well as dark fruits start showing up. Sadly the same with the metallic notes. Still a rather balanced and quite nice beer while cold. borisz (136), Netherlands Oct 26, 2008 33CL bottle bought @ the bierkoning. Brown amber color. caramel, resin.
