Due to age, some notes of chocolate, sherry and alcohol. Too bad, i should have drunk it fresh in 2003. Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark

Low malty aromas, with hints of figs and roast barley. Slightly apple tangy in the mouth but with plenty of dark malt to counter it. Dry and roasty finish with some faint hoppiness lingering. Not a bad dubbel.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 10, 2003 Dark brown color, with firm thick lacing, very nice. Aroma of roasted malts and caramel malts. Sweet taste, again a bit 'stouty' of the roasted malts, coffee, salami. Bitter palate. Decent dubbel, but somewhat too roasted for me. jerohen (1614), Bussum, Netherlands
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 16, 2003 Updated: Apr 10, 2003Mmm i see i'm the first one to rate this beverage, so i guess i have to say more than just "good dubbel" ;-). Very dark brown appearance, initially large head, beautiful lacing, similar to La Trappe's dubbel. Aroma of roasted malts, raisins and liquorice perhaps? Nose is pretty nice but not very strong (perhaps gets better when warming up). Malty flavour, obvious sweetness, a bit of coffee and a hint of chocolate. Quite nice, but it could use some additional elements, perhaps aging could help. Palate is initially bitter, but then goes on to be more sweet and a bit coffee-ish. Overall quite nice. Likely to be one of the best beers of this brewer.
