Floral hop aromas, some candy, perhaps toffee or caramel, and a sweet fruit I'm not placing right now. Quite a myriad of flavors. Abundant malts, slightly sweet, and a liquor flavor almost. One has to wonder of if this was barrel aged as there are some hints of oak coming out. A very nice malty body, a touch of bitterness on the palate, and a finish of hops and alcohol. This is a damn fine Bitter. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 24, 2004 Nice brown colored beer with highlights of deep ruby red. Small head. Caramel aroma matches the malty sweet flavors. Very little hop assertion. Moves off with a nice dry finish. Not your usual ESB, but a nice brew nevertheless. BückDich (4847), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 24, 2004 Deep ruby brown color with sticky tan head and lacing, very full. The aroma is very floral with a nice caramel malt nose and a touch of lightly bitter hops. The malts are a little dry but explosive with aromas; earthy and caramelized, roast/smoke, calamata olives, figs, muskat grapes and oak, almost seems barrel aged with a hint of bourbon and vanilla. The flavor is super tasty, lots of semi-sweet malts and a light balanced english noble hop presence. I really can't stress how firm and solid the malt foundation in this beer is, very rich and chewy. The alcohol is pretty detectable for 6% though. Expeced tail and mouthfeel for these flavors. Delicious! Why did I save this one for this late in the ratings? xsketchyx (184), Oregon, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 18, 2004 Bottle. Dark amber, transluscent pour. Nice and interesting flavor, with green apples and some thick malts that I find extremely appealing. A little bitterness in the finish. Not much to say, just a well-rounded and damn good beer! bu11zeye (5470), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 6, 2003 (Bottle) Pours a brownish-amber color with a large foamy protein enriched beige head, which has great staying power. Interesting flavor for an ESB. Average bitter, but not "extra special". carboloader (319), Houston, Texas, USA

Aroma is somewhat fruity, with some malt and alcohol coming through. Weird. Not my favorite and I'm not really sure how to rate it.
