| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 20, 2007 Bottle. Poured into pint glass... no head, not much lace. Nice dark amber color. Wonderful aroma, caramel with fruit notes. First sip and the alcohol is quite evident. Flavor is similiar to aroma. Palate is soft, with little fizziness. Can really feel alcohol effect by midglass. This is heady brew! Wulfstan (509), California, USA

I found this to be odd for an ESB and not that good. Its a dark, hazy brown with a thin light tan head that dissipates quickly to essentially nothing. The aroma is mostly baked apples, yeast, a bit earthy. The taste is similar, being predominantly baked apples, yeasty bread, earth. It has little sweetness and almost no bitterness. I guess if one wants a beer that tastes mostly of baked apples and other fruit, this is great, but for me this was not enjoyable at all. nearbeer (1846), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
