I found this to be odd for an ESB and not that good. Its a dark, hazy brown with a thin light tan head that dissipates quickly to essentially nothing. The aroma is mostly baked apples, yeast, a bit earthy. The taste is similar, being predominantly baked apples, yeasty bread, earth. It has little sweetness and almost no bitterness. I guess if one wants a beer that tastes mostly of baked apples and other fruit, this is great, but for me this was not enjoyable at all. nearbeer (1866), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Spicy caramel apple aroma is nice. Flavor is fruity - mostly tart apple, with maybe some grape and cherry, caramel and a hint of bitter green herbs. Light-medium body is watery and smooth. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 29, 2007 Dark brown pour with a small tan head. That fades quickly. Aroma is vinegar, sweet chocolate sauce, and malt. It is a distinctive aroma. Thin feel in the mouth. Flavors include dark fruit, dark chocolate, caramel, hops, and vinegar. Bitterness is surprisingly mild. This beer made for a great sampling experience. It is unlike anything I have tasted and was full of personality. I loved it. mcnally (114), Burbank, California, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 20, 2007 Malty honey aroma, with hints of spicy hops. Pours amber, with a medium head that fades. Malty, caramel, barely detectable hops, with a metallic finish. I think this bottle was a little old? I bet this beer would be great fresh and cask conditioned. Not a bad esb. doubelknv3 (568), Illinois, USA
