Dark brown color. Not very sweet with a slightly bitter finish. This beer has abv 6%; However, the alcohol comes through too much against the flavor, in my opinion. Still, a very drinkable and enjoyable bitter ale.

The smell is nice, fruity and malty and hoppy at the same time. Apples toffee and fuggles hops all at the same time. I like it.
The taste is more of the same, apricots, caramel, and toffee melded in to the hop flavor.
This is very good beer. Think I will have another.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 29, 2006 Updated: May 2, 2007Chestnut body with red highlights, beige head leaves the scene quickly. Aroma is more malt than hops, but somewhat balanced - more malty than a typical ESB, I wonder if that is a trait of a typical ESB from Wales. Nose is composed of sweet malts, english hops, diacetyl(Fuggles hops?), apricots and almond. Medium bodied. Some smoke in the fore, appearing between notes of nuts, hops and a heavier malt profile. Not the typical ESB, but that’s what I enjoyed most about this one. Now, if only I could find more that was actually fresh, I do desire to drink this again.
