On tap at the brepub (mid-May 2009) as Lobotomator Doppelbock: Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a thin ring of wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of sweet sugary caramel and light fruity esters with some doughy malts. Starts with good rich caramel malty sweetness and some light fruity character with a hint of tartness before a semi-sweet toasty finish. Pretty true to style but could use a little more complexity.

Clear dark brown pour with a thin beige head. Sweet malt and nutty aroma. Caramel, toffee, grassy hops, raisins and light chocolate

Draught at the brewpub as "Lobotomator Doppelbock," 7.1%ABV. Dark brown with a beige head. Roasted malt and caramel aroma. Dark fruits and sweet roasty flavor with some nuts in there too. Full mouthfeel. Alright, but I wouldn’t want to drink too much of this.

Pours a clear brown with a tightly knit head. Aroma of munich, and chocolate with a bit of noble grassy hops. Very nice maltiness, with and underlying nitty chocolate quality and just a touch of diacetyl. A little lite on the body but decoctions aren’t really possible in most brewpub settings, soooo, you can only complain so much about something like that. Enjoyable and a descent overall example of the style.

The brew was deep amber with Garnet leanings. Clean looking. The aroma was sweet candy malt, fruit and caramel. Body was creamy and thick with toasted caramel malt, pine hops deep down. Semi sweet. Not too bad.
