kegbear (71), Orange, California, USA Jun 13, 2008 On Tap at Hollingshead. Batch No. 1 Pours a deep golden yellow/orange. Near white head that lasts. The flaver is of sweet fruits and spice. The alcohol is well hidden. A really nice beer from these guys. Would buy again. (ABV: 11%, IBU: 20, SRM: 6, Release: One Time Only, Format: 750 mL bottles)
Beershine (1207), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 20, 2008 Mostly clear, light amber or dark gold. Small white head. Sweet nose with great hop character to back it up. Really juicy, like peach juice. Great aroma. Slick mouthfeel. A little oily. Also lightly fizzy. Sweet with alcoholic edge and nice hop afterbite. Too sweet but does have nice hop. wilkie (1087), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Aug 18, 2008 750ml bottle, #1335/2157, courtesy CaptainCougar, thanks Tom! Hazy, light copper appearance, with small white head. Aroma is slightly sweet, apple. Flavor is spicy, pepper, fruit, yeast. Decent spicy/fruity finish. Oakes (6819), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 18, 2008 Copper colour with light haze. High phenol and alcohol quotient, along with spice, glue. Dry spicy flavour with decent balance. A bit phenolic. Doesn’t take me much of anywhere special. jjpm74 (2878), Connecticut, USA Aug 17, 2008 #592 of 2157. Pours an orange amber with a thin white head. Smells of Belgian sugar, spice, oranges, some dry hints. Tastes lightly spicy and peppery with some nice malty touches. Dry peppery finish. I could see this beer really shining in about 1-2 years. Right now, the flavors don’t quite mesh. Naven (705), San Diego, California, USA Aug 17, 2008 From Bottle @ Stone 12th Anniversary. Started out very promising. Nice fruity aroma. Flavor was nice, but just too sweet for my taste. I can see why this is 11% because hot damn that was a lot of sugar and a lot of heat. This was good, but something I would only want in very very small doses. Dare I call this Double Duvel?
