Commercial Description:
Black Orchard is an unfiltered, bottle / keg conditioned Belgian-style black wheat beer, or “black wit”, if you will. This dark but surprisingly light bodied beer is very drinkable while still having character and complexity. Chamomile is added for its floral aroma, while the coriander and citrus peel give the characteristics of a traditional witbier. (ABV: 5.7%, IBU: 15, SRM: 26, Release: Year Round, Format: 750 mL bottles and 30L kegs)

25.4 oz bottle. Took a while to calm this one down even after pouring a glass as a tan foamy worm kept pushing its way out. Really black with rising bubbles. Nose is butter, maybe some cocoa and orange peel. Prominent prickly carb with a wheaty smoothness. Taste is subdued orange and spices with hints of chocolate in the finish. Nicely sessionable.

I popped the cap on this lovely 750ml bottle and was greeted by a huge flow of foam, losing a solid 8th of the bottle. The rest was poured into a Bruery tulip. Very deep brown, bordering on black, with a soda-popish 3 finger off-white head that quickly dissolves into nothing. No collar, no lace whatsoever. Nose is quite complex, with chocolate, tobacco, plum, black cherry, anise, coriander, and banana. The fruit and spice hit the palate first, with the chocolate and tobacco followng close behind. Mouthfeel is bright and crisp, but the high carbonation gives it a very club soda-like feel. The nice blend of flavors with the crispness of feel gives it a very high drinkability. Unique and tasty, one I would definitely revisit.

Dark color with a thin head. I would rank this below the white orchard, I just didn’t get enough out of it. The darker malty notes didn’t mesh well for me with the Belgian yeast being used. Chamomile just mellows this way out. I bet I would have enjoyed it more if it wasn’t tasted alongside of the rest of their very bold beers.

(bottle thanks tytoanderso) Pours reddish brown with an off-white head. Aroma is lightly musty and floral, but it’s really tough to pick out anything else. The taste is borderline nonexistent, with a little spice, some sweetness, with a dry finish. This is just boring and bland.

750ml bottle. Not much of a beer really. Not a whole lot going on here. Slightly floral, spicy and soapy aroma. A hint of urinal cake. Some dried dark fruits. Pours a rather dark plum/brown with a thin grey/brown head. Soapy, dry, bitter... grape skin. Orange peel. Incredibly dusty and awful chalky mouth feel. I tried, but this beer really goes no where. Thanks joey!

Bottle thanks to Hophead22. Poured Black in color with huge head. Aroma of dark fruits, a little spice. Taste is dark fruits, a little roasted, and spice. texture was light in the mouth and too carbonated. Just an ok beer.

Bottle courtesy of wolf. I have always wanted to try this beer and sad to say but I was a little dissapointed. It poured light black in color with a big head that overflowed. Aroma of some dark fruits and maybe some wheat. Taste was good. Sweet, but tart. Dark fuits, small amount of roasted malts, and some smoke. The carbonation level was way off, way to bubbly which made it difficult to drink. Light, and crisp but the carbonation ruined the taste. Thanks wolf for sharing a unique beer.

Draught. High white creay and lasting head. Light yellow body. Banana coriander aroma and flavor with a heavy carbonation and a short aftertaste.
