Commercial Description:
Black Orchard is an unfiltered, bottle / keg conditioned Belgian-style black wheat beer, or “black wit”, if you will. This dark but surprisingly light bodied beer is very drinkable while still having character and complexity. Chamomile is added for its floral aroma, while the coriander and citrus peel give the characteristics of a traditional witbier. (ABV: 5.7%, IBU: 15, SRM: 26, Release: Year Round, Format: 750 mL bottles and 30L kegs)

(Rating #2688)

Dark brown pour with a small off white head. Aroma is of oats, floral spice, oats caramel and toast. Flavor contains a surprising roasted barley note with some smokiness and further oat notes. Medium body with a dryish finish typical of wheat malt. Very interesting and unique.

Very dark brown with lighter brown edges. Aromas are very nice, sour cherry, lightly roasted wheat and some floral/lavender qualities. Palate is lightweight and rather thin, finishes watery and a bit mineral. Flavors aren’t notable beyond the roasted malts.

750ml bottle, dark brown color, with a tan-colored head, roasted, chocolate, toasted malt nose, with a faint black coffee, mild chocolate cake, cookie dough accent, with a light fruity, winey, funky note, witihin a vinous aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, spritzy, wheaty, toasted, roasted malt, and an ashen hint in the character, with a faint black coffee, dark chocolate flavor, with some dusty, mushroom, earthy barnyard accents, with a doughy, spiced fruitcake note, leading towards a mild black chocolate, coffee, dry roastiness finish.

Pours an opaque black with a large, clingy-lacing froth of dark tan head. Has a sweet dark caramel and milk chocolate nose with some doughy Belgian yeasty notes and a hint of tartness. Starts very effervescent with some dark caramely sweetness and mild light fruity tart notes before a drier, bready slightly more bitter finish. A pretty true to style and drinkable Belgian ale.

750 ml bottle of possible infection or subpar beer, I’m hoping it’s the former. Poured a deep dark brownish/black with a ridiculously large beige frothy head that started to overflow from the bottle, hence my hint of a possible infection. The aroma had that classic, I’m sour and have vinegar notes but they don’t belong. The remainder of the aroma was notes of cereal grains, mild chocolate malts, spices, and sour milk. The body on this one was screaming infection...complete and total foam shooting up for almost two minutes upon opening. The flavor has lots of vinegar, moldy old bread, old chocolate, soy and lactose. God dammit where on my profile does it say send me infected beers?? I love beer but it seems lately I am getting way too many infections.....seriously.

750ml bottle @ Immy’s Backyard Throwdown. Pours hazy copper in color with full foamy tan head. Aroma malty, sweet and spicy. Taste malty, spicy and citrus orange with bitter finish.
