| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 27, 2009 750 mL: brownish black with quickly disappearing, yet initially bountiful, tan head. interesting nose of some sourness combined with some dark malts. flavor is also very interesting and unique, with some tartness, likely from the lemon peal coming through followed by a present, but overwhelming, flavor some roasted malt. the finish is rather sour, with some definitely residual malt, likely a somewhat high finishing gravity for the style. a unique beer, not like anything i have had before and though i am not certain that it truly works, it was worth making and worth drinking MartinT (5050), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 25, 2009 My Bottom Line:
Chocolate bread and bountiful spices form most of this Dark Witbier’s flavor profile, making this a complex, drinkable but loud brew.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam tops the blackened brown.
-The lean body and its big bubbles help drinkability.
-I would have preferred the spices to be more subdued; as is, the chamomile, and orange peel are very expressive, lacking subtlety.
-Light roastiness accompanies the chocolate flavors.
-I’m not sure the chocolate flavors are completely harmonious with the spice mélange, to my palate.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 22, 2009 bottle. Pours a darker brown cola color. Roasted maltwith some slight coffee fill the aroma with some subtle belgian spiciness. Taste was roasty upfront followed by a wierd sour/tart twang that lasted on the tip of your tongue for awhile. was hoping for more with this being by first trip to The Bruery. Interesting beer though jredmond (1029), New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 20, 2009 Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with off white head - tons of sediment at the bottom of my glass. Aroma is yeast, some farmhouse funk, and some floral notes. The taste is roasty - like a schwartz - but finishes smooth and yeasty. Great belgian beer. dkachur (2356), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
