Commercial Description:
Black Orchard is an unfiltered, bottle / keg conditioned Belgian-style black wheat beer, or “black wit”, if you will. This dark but surprisingly light bodied beer is very drinkable while still having character and complexity. Chamomile is added for its floral aroma, while the coriander and citrus peel give the characteristics of a traditional witbier. (ABV: 5.7%, IBU: 15, SRM: 26, Release: Year Round, Format: 750 mL bottles and 30L kegs)

Poured a lightly hazy mahogany color with a medium sized, light tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast, cocoa, chamomile, lavender, citrus, spruce, and sweeter caramel. Taste of dark fruits, light spices, smoke, cocoa, wood, banana, and toast, with a nicely carbonated mouthfeel that smooths out after some time in the glass.

For some reason this was one of my favorite beers from The bruery, but it may be pulled from the lineup. Pours a nice deep woody brown almost black with a nice fizzy carbonation and nice look overall. Aroma is dark burnt toasty, nutty, herbal phenolic- with ltos of cgood phenolicy spicy yeast, citrusy and the chamomile is definitely kept in check since I usually dont like chamomile too much. Good full malty flavor without getting too thick or sweet- lots of black malts, lgith roast, good chocolate character and a nice toastiness to go alont with the earthy herbs and spcies thrown in. Clean and dry finish is nice as well.

750 ml bottle poured a clear deep dark reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of coriander, orange peel, burnt carmel, light wheat and light yeast. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a smooth lightly dry finish. Flavors of burnt carmel, wheat, coriander and citrus with a smooth dry lingering spiced finish.

Bottle. Pours, well gushes, brown with an average, frothy, light brown head, mostly lasting with fair lacing. It took this one a few minutes to settle down after opening. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, straw), average hops (flowers, grass, herbs), average yeast (barnyard, earth) with notes of plum, cherry, and wood. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

Bottle shared with the brewer at Capones PBW event. Pours a light hazy brown with amber notes and a medium light tan head that left some lacing. The aroma was on the light side. Getting some caramel in there with a touch of wit spiciness. A good bit different then the White Orchard for sure (that one was loaded with spices). Some light floral notes. The flavor had a bit more going on with a mix of floral and earthy notes, caramel and the wit spicy notes.

On tap. Interesting dark beer. Pours with a nearly black body, and a fluffy light brown head that leaves just a thin cover after a few minutes. Aroma of coriander, chamomile, and roasted malts. Taste is very yeasty with coriander, orange peel and toasted malts. Dryish and slightly fizzy.
