Commercial Description:
Black Orchard is an unfiltered, bottle / keg conditioned Belgian-style black wheat beer, or “black wit”, if you will. This dark but surprisingly light bodied beer is very drinkable while still having character and complexity. Chamomile is added for its floral aroma, while the coriander and citrus peel give the characteristics of a traditional witbier. (ABV: 5.7%, IBU: 15, SRM: 26, Release: Year Round, Format: 750 mL bottles and 30L kegs)

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a thick light tan head. Aroma of spices, yeast, and light sweet fruits. Flavor is also quite spicy upfront (definite peppery, can’t identify the others), a touch of roasted malt, roasted nuts, and yeast. Interesting beer and pretty tasty. 7/4/8/4/14 (3.7/5)

99% head, then the bottle bubbled like a volcano. Took 30 minutes to pour a glass. Dissapointing but maybe just my bottle? Interesting belgian style wheat. Some dry herbs. Low Alc is nice. Balanced and dark roasted herb aroma. Lingering bark wood type aroma. Ok brew. Not sure I want a 750ml of it. Maybe better served in bombers.

On tap @ Toronado. Pours a black color with a lasting tan head. Caramel aroma, very sharp w a hop note; some dark fruits. Chocolate taste quickly gives way to dark cherries, deeply complex bittersweetness. Sweet finish, worth a try.

On tap at The Gingerman NYC. Sits in the glass a dark, hazy murky brown, tan head leaving behind some nice lacing. It has a nutty aroma with a touch of spice and citrus. The flavor is an interesting mix of notes, mostly dark baked bread, some coffee, a touch of over ripened fruit, and chocolate in the finish. It has a medium body and a smooth finish.

draft: very dark brown beer with a thin off-white head. very subtle yeast nose of bubblegum. wheaty & yeasty flavors, pretty concentrated on the yeasty bubblegum notes. balanced hop character and a slight roasty thing going on behind the scenes. the beer is clean for the most part though can be a little flemmy in the aftertaste. pretty ordinary overall though...i think it would better with a strong roast character.

Black with a huge tan head. Aroma is a light roastiness, soy sauce, yeast, citrus is an odd compliment to the roastiness. Taste is citrus mixed with roasted malt, yeast, light caramel, yeast, faint alcohol showing.

Nearly black with a huge tan head. Tart bready wheat and oat aromas. Light bodied with a frothy mouthfeel. Nice flavors of tart wheat, beady malts, with peppercorn spices and rich dark raisons. Enjoyed this one.
