| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 6, 2009 Growler. Aroma of cranberry, mint, tangy citrus (lemon), bread, an overall sense of a not--too-sweet hard candy. Flavor really hits the tangy citrus zone, sort of bittersweet, with a light spice character and continuous bready malt presence. Quite tasty and overly drinkable for a pale, 8.5% brew. mspindler (335), Alta Loma, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 3, 2009 Growler. Pours a cloudy straw color with a big white lacing head. Lots of citrusy and floral hops in the aroma as well as some belgian spice, slightly phenolic. Flavor is tart ad spicy yeast, some nice citrus hops, a soft malt backbone and a clean finish. Medium bodied with generous carbonation. corby112 (768), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 25, 2009 Picked up a growler of this at Hawthorne’s Cafe on their opening day.
Pours a pale golden yellow/orange-peach color with hazy pale golden yellow hues when held to a light source and a one finger foam white head that very quickly settles into a lasting ring. Minimal spots of lacing are left throughout.
Crisp citrus hop aroma with hints of grapefruit, mango and lemon peel as well as some bready yeast, ripe banana and subtle malt backbone. Slightly earthy/grassy with subtle pine presence balanced by subtle estery light fruit notes. These characteristics kind of balance each other leaving kind of a bland aroma.
Hop forward medium body with a ton of dry earthy bitterness balanced by a prominent citrus sweetness. Dank oily resinous hops with a lot of lemon peel, grapefruit and mango, countered by a very subtle graham cracker/biscuit malt presence. Lots of earthy pine notes provides a nice dryness that lasts throughout, providing balance to the sweet notes. Slight alcohol presence comes through mid-palate and lingers into the finish. There’s also a bit of estery Belgian yeast that provide some light fruit notes, especially apple, pear and grape. Pretty complex with a nice combination of west coast IPA and Belgian Pale Ale characteristics. The 8.5% ABV is decently masked, making this beer relatively drinkable. Very good! Very citrusy aroma, with a peppery yeast and slick malts backing it up. Oily palate, moderate body, with warming malts in the middle, moderately clean Belgian yeast, and a bitter hoppy finish. Very solid Belgian IPA. Snojerk321 (2020), San Diego, California, USA
