Commercial Description:
Orchard White is our Belgian-style witbier. We brew it with unmalted flaked wheat, oats, malted barley, corriander, orange peel, and lavender. This is a thirst-quenching beer that will be a year-round offering.

Sampled at the brewery originally, and currently by bottle. Pours like Duvel - extreme carbonation out of the bottle. Pours very light pils color with that explosive white creme head. Aroma is very soft - some orange, some lavendar, and some Belgian spiciness. Taste is reminiscent of Duvel as well, albeit much less phenolic and dry. Lots of light orange/pear/peach notes, lavendar really comes in on the palate along with the wheat and oats. Some pepper on the back of the toungue. I let this beer calm down in the bottle for ~8 months, as I found it waaaaaay too spicy fresh (like a potpourri bomb). This was a completely different beer.

On tap. Cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma of coriander and lavender. Medium body with sweet citrus, some yeast and again distinct coriander notes. Some phenols come through in the finish. 060709

The pour reveals a cloudy golden color with a thick, bubbly, white head. The aroma is appealing with its lavender, citrus and coriander. The flavor has a nice blend of honey, citrus and coriander, the lavender is also present in the mouth. The body is light with an oily texture and very strong carbonation. This is a very well-done and highly quaffable beer.

My Bottom Line:
This bubble bath of a Witbier presents a tantalizing lavender and coriander perfume that nicely compliments its honeyed malts and citrusy zing.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the nearly clear golden (before the yeast pour, of course).
-The intense effervescence can be obstrusive early on.
-The lean body and somewhat dry ending make this quaffable.
-The lavender is well integrated, but like rose water can be for some in desserts, its overt use may disgust those who simply don’t like its bold fragrance.

Bottle.

On tap at brewery. Pours chalky light gold with a fluffy head. Aroma has nice spices, namely clove and coriander. Palate is mild, almost buttery, and very smooth. Flavor overall is herbal, mild and pleasant. Pretty tasty.

Bottle. Slight gusher when opened, it settled after a short time, didn’t lose much when it finally did. Pours a hazy, yellow/orange, huge white head that lingered for some time and left lacing. Aroma is pepper, malt and coriander. Flavor is more of the same, coriander, pepper, malt and a touch of hops. Finish is dry and pleasant.
