Bottle. Virtually no head. Body is dark brown. Aroma is lightly malty (molasses, cooked caramel), with notes of maple syrup, brown sugar, alcohol/whisky, wood. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to fully body, syrupy texture, soft carbonation, heavily alcoholic. Boring, one-dimensional, syrupy sweet, burning. Meh.

750mL bottle, #129 / 4777. Pours a slightly oily and viscous brown color with yellow edges; headless; some weight to this beer, definitely. Loads of dense sweetness in the aroma: oozing brown sugar, maple syrup, honey, and very light barrel notes; smooth profile, no harsh bourbon notes at all, just oily and gooey and generous; little alcohol. Full, mouth-coating presence; very relaxed carbonation (not flat, but close); there’s a very creamy, gooey presence here, with (following the aroma) lots of brown sugar and maple syrup sweetness; the barrel shows through as lightly toasted wood, some sweet vanilla-tinged bourbon notes; this is, first and foremost, a hugely sweet beer, but there’s a sensibility in the barrel notes (nothing rough), a hugely hidden and buried alcohol content (nothing hot here), and just a dense, pleasant malt character that really carries this through; nice stuff. Ali and I polished off a bottle of this by ourselves, after a trip to Russian River. Lengthy finish: brown sugar, lots of well-developed malty sweetness, soft edges, maple syrup; lasting stickiness.

Gift from a friend near Fullerton. Reminds me a lot of Kuhnhenn 4th Dementia. Pours a candy amber color with a fleeting beige head. Tastes of juicy red grapes, caramel, oak, and a warming amount of alcohol. The flavor expretly seems to masque the massive ABV. Well done.

Headless, hazy brown mixes to opacity as it’s poured. Aroma is rich and raisiny with treacley roastiness and oxidation that reminds me oF SA Triplebock. Taste is the same as aroma and rather vinous with hot alcohol and bourbony vanilla evident. High residual sweetness in this youngish bottle is (not really) balanced out by tannic and woody astringency. Interesting, but a bit hard to drink, and could probably benefit from a few years of aging. $18/750ml

Botella, rating no. 6000. Pours a deep dark brown colour with a medium beige head. Quite sweet, dark fruity (mainly prunes), vinious caramel aroma with a little chocolate touch. Nice smooth mouthfeel, bit sticky. The flavour is quite sweet with lots of dark fruits, wood, roastish caramel, some bourbon and a bitter sweet vinious dark fruity long lasting finish. Would be nice to taste another bottle of this in a few years’ time.

Bottled. Dark amber coloured. Unclear. No head to talk about. Aroma of prunes, dades, spice, sweetness and berries. Sweetness, prunes and spice in the flavour. Has some alcohol, vanilla, wood and then some as well. quite full bodied. Ends on a sweetish and fruity note. Quite pleasant, and hide the high alcohol very well. Nice one, which make me quite dizzy on a saturday night. Niiiiiiiiiiccce.
