Shared with wolf, sent by HH22, thanks Tim! Poured into a snifter, aroma is alcohol and apples....you can smell it from 2 feet away. Murky brown color, not much head. This bad boy taste like alcohol (bourbon) but to my surprise, its easy to drink... Lots of alcohol taste with apple, fruits, malt and some light chocolate. Texture is medium but easy to drink. Wow this is a super strong beer, I wish I would of aged this bottle for an extra five years...oh well. Its still an interesting beer. Thanks tim for sending this crazy brew! andersand (384), Malmö, Sweden
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Oct 21, 2009 Murky looking brown with small beige bubbles struggling on top. Aroma is very complex and full, fruity with notes of plum and raisin, figs and some bourbon. Flavour is similar but more alcoholic with boatloads of dried fruit, coca, caramell, nuts and more. Very complex, sweet and rich. I like it but its damn heavy. Skinnyviking (4171), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 20, 2009 Bottle irritatinly encapsuled in some nasty material that takes hours to remove and apart from that you risk getting the stuff into the bottle. Low and quickly disappearing fluffy brown head. Pitch black body. Vineous alcohol dominated bourbon aroma with notes of wood caramel and vanilla. Powerful bourbon alcohol flavor with creamy notes of wood caramel and dried fruit. Low carbonation, long sweet alcohol aftertaste. Glouglouburp (2877), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 15, 2009 In short: An over-the-top, brutal, decadent, fruity and very woody sipper that reaches excellence through its complexity
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed a few months after the beer release
The look: Cloudy brown with red highlights without much head
In long: Nose of big malted woody boozy beer, and when I say big I mean humongous. The maltiness is decadent, this is a corpulent beer, plenty of burnt caramel and all kinds of fruits. Logs of dark fruits (figs and friends) but also notes of refreshing tropical fruits. Warming alcohol, a bit vinous and with red wine tannins. The beer is really woody, with cherry wood and just plenty of oak barrels and it even adds a little Flemish Sour character that imho is what makes this very good beer an excellent beer. I didn’t notice much bourbon even though 25% of the beer is supposed to be bourbon barrel aged. Very complex beer. The 14% is relatively well hidden but this is no session beer, I would have guessed about 10% so it is still a bit boozy. Ovbviously very sweet. This is a sipper, everything about this beer screams intensity, yet I had no problem drinking a full bottle by myself (gains points here). I’m usually not found of big boozy sipper but this one really worked for me. I’m even surprised not to see it rated higher with the bigger-is-better ratebeer crowd. A great first anniversary brew. I can’t believe that this brewery has only been around for a year. So many great new beer in only one year. Bruery is maturing so fast that it will celebrate its second anniversary six months after the first one. travita (1952), Frisco, Texas, USA
