Growler. Aroma of rye, caramel, prune, fig, clove, and overall sort of earthy. Flavor big on sweet prune/other dark fruits with a sharp spice component and continues to have a bigger rye character than I anticipated. An increasing burnt/smoky note also adds complexity. Though sweet, also has a bittersweet twang to it so it’s not remotely sugary or cloying. Tasty.

Tap @ Papago. Sweet fruit, some rye and roasted grain in aroma. Red body with off white head. Alot of sweet toffee candy here with some rye grain. Sweetener at least took some heat off the palate after that pickle pepered sandwitch. Little too sweet but not bad.

On tap at Papago. I thought this was solid. Pours a murky plum color with a tan head. Smells of licorice and rye. Tastes predominantly of both with added notes of cinnamon and mild fruitcake. Eating this with a Ruben is a wise move.

Awful. Tap at the Bruery. Awful. Worse than the Ambrio I had on tap at Toro SD. Smells bland and vaguely oxidized. Flavor is nasty tart grains and soured hops. Wretched.

Bomber, back to back with Laurelwood Wry Pale Ale.

Pours a dark brown with an abundant and fluffy tan head. Nice beer, big rye flavor like rye wasa. Sweet, too sweet for my own taste, bits of sour that are characteristically Bruery. Good beer, but it cannot live up to the crisp, clean, minimalist lines of Laurelwood’s wry pale. Still, nice enough and I’m glad to have tried.

Tap at Blue Dog. Pours a hazy deeper brown with amber notes and a medium bubbly off white head. Aroma of rye, caramel. Toffee and nuts. Flavor of the same. Nice rye profile. Lightly sweet but not over the top. Well done.

750 ml bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of carmel, rye, spice and cocoa. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a smooth finish. Flavors of carmel, rye, brown sugar and a hint of spice with a smooth lingering carmely finish.
