| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 25, 2009 The flowery nature of this beer with a subdued Brett yeasty bitterness and mild tartness and sweetness really deliver for me. This was the ideal beer for our Memorial Day cooking with shrimp, ribs and corn on the grill. It goes well with sherbet too. The mouthfeel has some dryness and a texture too it. The tartness does linger a bit too long. Overall, I love it and want it on tap. vyvvy (2043), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 25, 2009 Thanks again to STLWill for sharing this saison. Pours hazy orange with an off-white head. The aroma is lightly musty, on the grainy side, some nectar fruits and yeastiness showing through. Medium clean body with some lightly harsh carbonation. The flavor starts with some harsh crisp graininess, rough apple-ish fruitiness and some spice. The finish is spicy and decent. An okay saison. TAR (2093), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 22, 2009 Hazy golden. Compact and sturdy white froth. Uplifting nose of floral hops (honeysuckle), glazed lemon zest, pear, sulfur, crackery pils malt, and a mixture of peppery and plasticlike phenolics. Underlying notes of banana and Juicy Fruit gum. Fluffy and softly expansive. Soft, polished, and gently sweet malt quells the early clove and black pepper crackle. Starchy malt buoys the center as it teams up with pillowy notes of gum and doughy yeast. Springy honeydew melon and baked apple tang seamlessly merges with the toasty haylike maltiness. Sparkling, well-placed herbal hop bitterness imparts some zip and definition to the borderline limp and flabby body which is marked by persistent notes of baked apples. Malt takes on a raspy, slightly grainy toastiness which digs into the palate and overshadows the softer fruit and floral delicacies. “Off” notes of sulfur and plastic proliferate at slightly higher temps. Chalky yeast dusts the palate with a hint of dry residue. Finishes fluffily dry, yet increasingly sharp, sulfuric, and sassy with a bitter clinch of grainy pils malt atop a salvaging glimpse of floral hops. Certainly a commendable effort as it relies heavily on yeast for its character and rustic charm. Still, a bit too much sulfur and plastic as well as some late graininess from the malt. It’s worth noting that, aside from the plasticlike phenols, I detect absolutely no Brett. SamGamgee (1436), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 19, 2009 Draught at The Bruery’s anniversary. Light gold with lasting foam. More of a classic brett nose than the 100% version: tart, fruity, funky, and leathery. The flavor is dry with a tart finish, light grainy malt, and peppery spice. Light bodied with medium carbonation. Smooth overall presentation. The partial brett adds a tartness that the 100% version lacks, but doesn’t have quite the great fruity character. bitbucket (2034), Kirkland, Washington, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 17, 2009 750 ml bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a 2 finger thick off white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is herbal hops, faint citrus and yeast. Flavor is lightly sweetened biscuit malt, esters, and light spice. Full mouthfeel. Medium to full body. If there is brett in this beer, it hasn’t kicked in yet and that’s the way I like my brett beer. Very little brett. Very nice beer at this point. golubj (1287), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 16, 2009 Bottle. Opened this on a warm day, expecting it to be refreshing, but it really wasn’t. Aroma is sugary malt, light citrus, and earthy yeast. Flavor is the same, but the palate is too thick and syrupy for this style. I still don’t like the yeast that the bruery uses either, and combined with the light funk... it just isn’t a pleasant flavor.
