| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 4, 2009 Good looking beer. Perfect shade or orange haze. Tightly woven, fluffy bright white head, with a few large bubbles congregating in the middle. Nose was musty with straw notes, ginger, and other spices. Carbination, like almost every bruery bottle conditioned beer, is close to being non-existent, which is shame, because with more effervescence, it would have been quite nice. Flavors were straw-like, dry citrus, with a firm bitter ending. Brett at this stage is hard to find, in fact, i cant find it. Clean flavors though and nicely balanced between the straw/grain; bitterness, and dry-citrus. Can get a little chalky at times though, but too big of a distraction. ericandersnavy (1066), crossroads, Texas, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 1, 2009 750 ml in Duvel glass. Golden with lasting flat head and lace. Marshmallow, yeast, and mildly spicy mildly funky aroma. Mildly spicy fruity melon with a touch of honey and mildly hoppy spicy very dry finish. It seems to be a little watery. Still, refreshing and seemingly of quality ingredients, but maybe not enough of them. Still, pretty tasty and refreshing.
re-rate: I warmed to this as it warmed up. Seems more assertive, maltier, spicier, Still could use more brett. How does that work. Is it more yeast or more age? trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 1, 2009 Bottle from Whole Foods, Hillcrest. Poured hazy yellow-gold with a pillar of white foam. Good lacing. Spicy, funky aroma of yeast, white pepper, spicy hops, grain, and perfume. Tingly mouthfeel from the carbonation. Holiday-like taste without the weight. Lots of spice, definitely like the peppery hops, along with the sweeter sugar and clove. Some banana from the yeast, but more of the welcome bretty funk. Seems to affect the pear and apple flavors more than the hops, muting some of the sharpness. A longer finish with a coriander/cardamon flavor. Very happy with this one. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Mar 30, 2009 Aroma seems a wee bit sweet and is just starting to show the funk. Light sweetness up front, then a bitter finish. I don’t know if I will hate this later (funkiness and bone-dryness amplify the bitterness) or love it (some of the hop bitterness drops out and aging rounds over the rough edges). Not bad, at any rate. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA

Poured hazy gold. Aroma was nice floral and apple with earthy maltiness and an herbal tone.
Flavour was a bit more bitter than the saisons I’m used to. Still quite refreshing and ddrinkable. Fruitiness over earthy malt, lower yeast tones and a dry finish.
Very tasty.
