Appearance: Pours a root beer brown with a pin stripe of dense khaki head. Aroma: Fruity Belgian yeast, roasted malt, dark bread crust. Taste: Fruity Belgian yeast, dark chocolate, pecan, medium bodied coffee. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and perfect amount of tickling carbonation. Overall: Highly drinkable, deceptively strong, very flavorful. Invokes a warm holiday feeling.

750ml. Happy Festivus. Pours dark brown, medium body, one finger light brown head that fades fast. Aroma is chocolate, some coffee, caramel malts, roasted malts, some nuttiness. Flavor is chocolate, caramel malts, some coffee, bitterness on the finish, spice, somewhat astringent finish. Mouthfeel is generally lively and prickly, yet the beer goes flat quick. Disappointment in the appearance and mouthfeel categories. Alcohol is present in the taste. Good, but I’m hoping some time will do it good.

Dark brown but not quite black with a cocoa colored head. it smells roasty and like cocoa but not really "belgian-style", a little sweet. The taste is odd, vinous, almost like Stone Russian stout but not quite, very strange. I did not taste the pecans at all, too bad. This is not a bad beer at all and the alcohol is well hidden until it warms up. Overall, this is not a good value at $12 per 750ml..but I’ll still check for bruery beers once in awhile. Pours dark brown with ruby around the edges and a medium thick dark beige head that diminishes slowly. Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa and chocolate. Medium-to-full body with flavors of milk chocolate, roasted nuts, dark fruit and spices. Some boozy character as well. The finish is yeasty with a malty and nutty aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

What a beautiful Christmas eve beer. Dark brown with red tints and strong malty head. Nose is sourness and lovely hint of cocoa. Taste is a lot the same. High sweet tartness of cherries. Cocoa and spices rush through. Excellent beer.

750 bottle. Merry Christmas. Pours intensely brown with an active head. Aroma is booze, red wine, spice, black cherry. Taste is also black cherry, tart...Not a sour ale but definately a sour component to it. Finishes with intense chocolate, licorice, espresso, and fades nicely. The body turns slightly thin as it warms. Overall this is a nice beer- intense, complex, well done.

It has a cocoa malty aoma with a dark opaque chestnut color and chocolatey foam head. There is a massive amount of flavor from the cocoa nibs to malt to a smooth booziness to coffee. I love this brewery’s specialty beers.

There is sharpness like an alcohol presence that outweighs the other components here. Other than that I smell peppermint and waxy milk chocolate like a chocolate dipped candy cane. Flavors of burnt toffee and more mint. Mouthfeel is substantial enough to cradle these flavors nicely and should be called medium/full. Nice brew. Thank You The Bruery. 2009 25 oz.

Bottle at home - Christmas evening - shared with Bager & Mette. Almost black - light brown head. Roasted, nutty, light acid, citric, caramel, light burned, dark bread, light spicy, chocolate, sparkling - high hoppy, light yeasty, licorice.
