To steal the words of my local homebrew supply store, "It’s beer."
Wonderful session-type brew (if a little on the strong side for a session beer). Easy-drinking, pleasant. This is the sort of brew you would want to hang out with in a pub and buy a beer for.
Nothing off, nothing disagreeable, just caramel malt goodness with enough hop balance to keep it finely-tuned. douglas88 (1648), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 4, 2008 Updated: Mar 7, 2008Bottle thanks to shp555. Pours a dark amber with a thin beige head. The aroma is mostly caramel malt. The taste is a crisp malty body with some sweet caramel and a bit of bready and tea leaf qualities. Not bad at all. gsmitty80 (650), Washington DC, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 3, 2008 I thought this beer was heavier than medium body but i wasnt unhappy. The amber malting is thick and the caramel flavor is mute enough to be at the back of the palate which gives a nice finish. jhumphries69 (730), Tyrone, Georgia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Mar 1, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a very deep, clear red - with hints of violet and a medium-sized, light tan head that fades quickly but leaves a little lace on the glass. The aroma is very biscuity and very nutty. There are also considerably fruity esters in there. The flavor follows the nose - bready, nutty, and slightly estery. There is a good bit of caramel in the flavor, too. In the middle of the palate there is a slight acidity as well as a light, earthy, hop bitterness. The finish is full and very bready with a slight earthy, fruity hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium in body with a medium level of carbonation. Overall, the beer is a bit thin and much less hoppy than I was expecting. This is real a Northern English Brown ale, not an American Amber (which typically have more caramel, less nuttiness, and a lot more hops). A drinkable beer, but a let down considering it was such a departure from what I was looking for when I bought it. SSSteve (2090), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Head is small, white, frothy, mostly and quickly diminishing head.
The aroma is nice—wonderful melding of fruit esters and malt. Breaks down to be malty with moderate notes of biscuit, toasted grain, toasted bread crust and caramel; Hoppy with moderate notes of honeysuckle flowers, herb; Light yeasty note of basement; Miscellaneous trace note of brine, light notes of vibrant tropical fruit and cola.
The flavor is lightly acidic, light/moderately sweet, lightly bitter with a long, moderately bitter, lightly sweet finish.
The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.
Wonderful effort. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

Aroma is a bit of DMS- vegetable and herbal with a light caramel sweetness and mild tea-like hops. Weak flavor- just some light toastiness, nuts, and caramel sweetness- light herbal hop bittering. Average amber ale.
