12oz bottle, . . . enjoy by 09 07 (with an amber I’m not so sure it matters anyway) courtesy of Nachlamsie, thanks Ben! Clear orange brown with a 1/2 finger beige head, pretty good retention. Aroma is quite toasty with some sweet caramel malts and a touch of nuttiness. There are also some bready notes and a touch of earthy hops--I kinda had to dig for the hops, though. Flavor was pretty much the same with plenty of toasty malts again with even some hints at roasted malts. Lightly "fruity," but I won’t elaborate any more than that. Bitterness in the finish is about a 2 with some light saltiness that quickly fades. Moderate smooth carbonation with a medium body. This seems a bit more like a brown ale than an amber--maybe I’m just used to ambers sucking and being a waste of time. This isn’t. A good amber--don’t really understand why it’s score is so low.

Poured a very nice amber color with medium thick off-white head that lingered awhile and left okay lacing. Nose is malty roasted nuts, dark fruits toffee and a hint of hops. I even detected a little coffee undertone in the nose, late in the glass. Mouthfeel is semi-sweet and a somewhat watery body. Flavor is a muted follow-up tio the nose, with the empohaisis mostly on the roasted nuts and toffee. This all tops off with a finish that is short, somewhat watery and a bit stale. Not bad, but nothing to write home about either.

Not too bad actually. Good standard tasting Ale with a nice malt / hop combo. Defintely worth the try.

Pours a clear amber color, with a small off white head. Smells of light crisp malts, with a mild hop presence. The flavor was much the same, pretty decent maltiness, with maybe some light caramel to it. Very easy drinking and smooth. The finish was a little sweet and crisp. This amber drinks quite well, I think it is a little underrated in my opinion. Great session brew.

*$1.50 single purchased at Bruisin’ Ales in Asheville, NC.* Appearance: Pours a gorgeous deep amber body with an amble, off-white head. Smell: Toasted malt aroma of bread crusts with a vague fruitiness and only a faint hint of hops. Taste: Toasted malts with a pinch of caramel sweetness and nuttiness. There’s a little kick of roastiness near the clean finish. The hops are slight at best, and are really an afterthought in this malt-dominant beer. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A tasty, highly drinkable amber that makes for a fine session beer.

Bottle. A friend brought this one back from Myrtle Beach. Tastes clean, crisp and refreshing at the start, but down hill from there. Taste is a bit fruity with malty tones. The finish is where this one goes south. Quite a stinging aftertaste. Unfortunately, this beer is more complex then it needs to be, which kills it for me.

Pours a medium brown color and is fairly cloudy. The head is substantial, light brown, and made up of large bubbles. This beer smells a bit like a lager, which is too bad. It has a bit of a fruity aroma as well. Strange. The flavor of this beer is interesting. It is fruity at first, but finishes with a relatively strong coffee flavor. Neither taste is bad, but they don’t work great together. It’s almost as if they put a bit of lambic in with a porter or something.
