Not a great beer. Tap at Jose Pistolas in Philly. Poured a amber color (!) and quite dark, I thought I was getting a quality beer, with a large white head. Aroma was somewhat pleasant, quite sweet with a nice hoppy note to it. Taste was quite terrible. I really did not enjoy this beer. kind of like rancid dishwater, needs some work.

Poured brown with a white head. Aroma of caramel. Watery with a hint of caramel. Slamable.

Bottle courtesy of lithy. Best by 4/09. Poured amber with an off-white head. Caramel malt aroma. The flavor found toasted malts with a background of light coffee and hops. Light body and a light toasted aftertaste.

pours amber clear with beige head. Aroma of caramel malts. Taste malty, caramel, good roasted profile light hoppy finish and coffee touch in the middle. Smooth finish with a brown sugar / cookie dough like palate. Good stuff here.

Location: A friend of mine picked up a 6 pack of 12 oz bottle on a trip to NC. Drank this one 3/23/09.

Aroma: Nose is earthy malts, fairly faint
Appearance: Nice looking beer - thick, chalky off-white head, Dark copper/gold color, lots of lacing
Flavor: Some sweetness, lightly toasted, not much else
Palate: Light/Medium body, a little dry on the tongue
Overall Impression: Really good looking amber beer, but the nose and taste aren’t up to the initial impression. I can’t quite put on finger on the missing elements, but it could use some improvement.

Dark Amber beer. Very flavorful, flavors of coffee but very light. Caramel flavor, light on the hops as well. Very toasty flavor as described by others. In all a very excellent amber.

Thanks daknole. Hazy copper-colored beer, large yellowish head that never quite dissipates, abundant lace. Cidery malt aroma. Flavor has cidery and husky malts with a quinine twinge of bitterness at the end. Thin to medium body, slightly dry, carbonation is effervescent on the palate.

Although I do enjoy the complex malts in this brew, I find that it is somewhat light bodied for an amber ale. I do enjoy the aroma that comes along with amber ales, so that is a plus. If you like amber ales, this is not the best but it beats the hell out of an AmberBock...
