Commercial Description:
The Duck-Rabbit Baltic Porter is deep, rich and velvety soft. A full blooded roasty character is balanced by complex alcohol notes. Strong (9% alcohol by volume) yet unfailingly subtle, this special brew warrants sipping and savoring.

Big old thanks to ucusty for this one! Pours a nice black with ruby amber hues and tan head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt, dark chocolate, coffee, caramel, anise?, and maybe some soy sauce? The flavor has lots sweet malt, dark fruit (prune), coffee, caramel, a bit burnt sugar, and port. The mouthfeel is pretty normal. Overall, this is good stuff!

Bottle from Green’s for $1.50 which I would say is not a bad price, not a bad price at all for this quality and tasty brew. Soy sauce and molasses aroma. The flavor is prune and molasses again. The fruit flavors fade into a roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate. Creamy smooth texture. The finish is a bit hot and alcohol which barring that would make this one fine beer.

Bottle. Tastes of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and tart cherries. Also a parfume like taste that does not fit. This knock it down a few notches for me.

Draught @ Brick Store. Pitch black. Brown head. Luscious looking. Lots of up front cherry notes. Tar, asphalt, coffee, bold and rich. Creamy, velvety mouthfeel. Lovely body. The coffee, chocolate, cherry blend in the aromas and carry right on through into the flavors. More coffee than expected. An excellent rendition of a style that has generally underwhelmed me.

2008 Bottle - Thanks Ibrew2or3 - Pours a thick black slurry with a minimal tan head...aroma is dark fruit, chocolate malt, pumpernickle bread?...flavour is bold and smooth, toffee, charred wood, almost a bit of barrel, finishes with a vanilla kick, fun fun beer...

Thanks to biggcb for the bottle. This was the 07 batch with a year, maybe two, on it. Aroma is chocolate and the dust before the rain. Pours darkest brown with a thin dark head with a distinct reddish hue. No lace. Flavor starts out as chocolate and espresso, with a subtle but unfading malt presence behind it. Sipping my way through the glass, caramel, toffee, and vanilla emerge, some cherries, a bit of leather and bitter melon on the end. It’s all very mellow and understated. There’s never a real wow moment, but a very long lasting yum. Warm, thick, full-bodied on the tongue.

Very intense for a porter. Pitch black and full-bodied, I can’t even begin to list all of the flavors. Grape, banana, cherry coffee, Brazil nuts, and many other flavors all mix together for a sensory explosion.

12ozer thanks to bmartin08 in the NP10. Pour is oily black with a juicy, thick brown head. Aromas of roasted malt, sweet fruits, chocolate, and a hint of alcohol. The flavor is somewhat sweet. Chocolate and malt come in strong in the finish. Very smooth and viscus for a porter. Another great brew.
