Commercial Description:
The Duck-Rabbit Baltic Porter is deep, rich and velvety soft. A full blooded roasty character is balanced by complex alcohol notes. Strong (9% alcohol by volume) yet unfailingly subtle, this special brew warrants sipping and savoring.

12 oz bottle from Emacgee. Almost black in color with a medium tan head. Aroma: alot of chocolate, light notes of roasty coffee, caramel. Taste is initially a big blast of chocolate and heavily roasted malt, giving way to caramel sweetness and light fruity esters. Medium to full bodied with only a hint of alcohol perceived. Some lingering roasted malt bitterness in the finish.

Bottle. Pours black with a tan ring for a head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, dark fruit, caramel, and alcohol. The taste is at first intensly roasty then gives way to sweet malt, caramel, coffee, and warm alcohol. Full mouthfeel with soft carbonation, moderate bitterness, and a bit of dark malt tannin. Very good.

12 oz. bottle. Pours with no head, looks like thin wine. Aroma is primarily of alochol with raisin, prunes and chocolate. Palate is smooth and rounded with good carbonation. Flavor is full of prune with dark roasted coffee, chocoatle and an awkward sweetness. Overall, found it poorly balanced and unrefined.

Bottle: Very dark pour with a bubbly tan ring for head. Meaty aroma with tons of mocha roast. Some underlying phenolics are there, and booze notes. The flavor has lots of booze and roast, but it’s balanced. Some dark chocolate and mocha, and a slightly tart booziness. A solid Baltic Porter.

(thx thebeercellar) jet black pour, not much of a head. A sweet, almost coffee smell, but not quite. A heavyly roasted, oily soy, and tarty choc taste. Medium body with a dry roasted slightly bitter finish. This beer caught be a little of guard, its unique, and not what i was expecting. A good beer!

Fresh winter 2007 vintage. This brew pours a very dark chocolate brown body. A small, foamy tan head settles pretty quickly to just a thin rim, leaving behind minimal spotty lacing. The aroma is intensely malty and rich. Dark chocolate, roasty caramel, nougat, coffee, and dark fruits all emerge in well transitioned layers. The nose is really inviting, despite mild alcoholic fumes. The flavor follows suit, with malt after malt building upon one another. It tastes like figs steeped in melted dark chocolate, all filtered and added to a roasty, creamy coffee. Finishes medium long, roasty and bittersweet. The body is full, smooth, and viscous. Its almost silky, and perfectly carbonated. Awesome beer. Not quite living up to Koff Porter, which is the king of the Baltics in my opinion, but it is damn good nonetheless.

Dark pour with little head. Very strong smell of alcohol. Chocolate, coffee, and many other flavors. Tingley on the tongue and very complex. A nice warming porter.

Bottle from quagmite. Thanks, dude! Absolutely killer Baltic. Man, this thing is amazing. Jet black with not much of a head. Smells really dark and rich and has a fairly prevalent alcohol aroma also. I like it. Tastes every bit as dark and rich as it smells and the alcohol is evident in the taste as well but it only adds to the flavor of this beer. Amazingly complex. I taste everything from chocolate to coffee to Whoppers! No kidding! I wish I could get this on a regular basis but it came on a trade from quagmite! Thanks for this gem!
