Commercial Description:
The Duck-Rabbit Baltic Porter is deep, rich and velvety soft. A full blooded roasty character is balanced by complex alcohol notes. Strong (9% alcohol by volume) yet unfailingly subtle, this special brew warrants sipping and savoring.

Its easy to see why this beer is in the top 50. It hits all the marks of what makes a RateBeer top 50 beer. Beer pours black with a dark tan, red tinged head. Aroma is indeed quite enticing with notes of roasted malt, alcohol, coffee, chocolate, and molassess. Flavor is very delicous with BIG flavors of chocolate, plums, alcohol, and coffee. I really wished I could buy this around the corner from my house. In North Carolina??? Super mouth filling and off the chart palate for a porter.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Matty Simpson: poured black. Very black with a smallish brown head that took a second to develop. Aroma is of chocolate, coffee, and nuts. Flavor is quite huge with lots of chocolate. Slightly sweet at first followed up with a slight dryness as you swallow. Oily mouthfeel but great body. A very nice beer.

Much thanks to hopdog for this... Appears black with dark brown edges when held to the light. A dark tan head slowly fades into a small, creamy cap. Scattered spots of lacing are left all around the glass. Smell is of roasted nuts, caramel, cream, cocoa, and a blessing of piney hops found in the background, along with toffee, molasses, brown sugar, and vanilla. Black grape aromas come out as it warms. Taste is of molasses, melted caramel, cocoa, and vanilla goodness with an herbal and piney hoppiness that gently runs and compliments the sweetness of this well done brew. Mouthfeel is of sweet molasses up front that runs slickly along the tongue with light roastiness grazing each tastebud with intense verocity that’s fit for royalty. Oh, yes. Believe the hype. If I can get a keg of this beauty, I will. If not, I’ll gladly take a case. Any takers on a trade? I’ll be passing through Fayeteville in August of 2007.

Bottle from zathrus13, thanks! Black, thin dark tan head. Nose is cocoa, cola, sweet rich malt, caramel, some dark fruit/cherry. Flavor is caramel, dark fruits, cocoa, cola, bittersweet ’old’ tasting finish.

12 oz bottle via trade with DrBayern, many thanks Matt. Pours pitch black with a nice two finger light brown head. The aroma is roasty, chocolately, with notes of coffee and malt. The taste is big bold and strong, with many of the aromas coming through in the flavor. Feels really nice on the palate too. Wow this is stellar stuff.

12 oz bottle, best before 7/07 courtesy radiomgb. Opaque black colour, not a shade of anything else when held to the light, with a mostly lasting frothy and creamy light brown head. Rich chocolate, sweet caramel, light cappuccino, figs, fruity, and vinous aroma. Very fruity and vinous flavours, lightly acidic, with background chocolate, fig, raisin, light citrus, some cappuccino, and a lingering lightly roasty bitter finish. Full bodied, rich and smooth mouthfeel. Very intense beer.
