| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 5, 2008 Pours a deep amber color with a nice off-white head. Very nice nose: hops, sweet candy and fruit. Very sweet taste. I like it but I was hoping for a little more balance still a nice brew though. Alcohol is hidden from the overpowering sweetness but still a very drinkable beer. Carl99Fan (186), Suwanee, Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 4, 2008 Pours nice amber/copper color. Red hues. Firm white head. Fantastic aroma, oh so sweet! Taste...like a mouth full of sugar. Full bodied. Not the best barleywine I’ve had, but it ranks highly. hellbilly (1532), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 3, 2008 bottle BB 12/2008 by way of ucusty... hazy dark/rich amber topped by a tan head with orange tints. smells really sweet and grainy followed up with over ripe fruit and dryness/savory yeast... no identity. the palate is ridiculously sweet. big time loss of ROI for the sugar indulgence... it seriously lacks balance and complexity. flavors are all sweet... grain, ripe fruit, toasted nuts and yeast without a bitter or dry complement. medium body with a thick cloying sugar mouth feel. this has no redeeming qualities unless you enjoy eating sugar straight from the bag! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 21, 2008 Bottle acquired via trade with polomagnifico...RYAN...WOW!!! This was a very tasty and enjoyable beer. Aroma was probably its least redeeming quality, being sweet without any definable characteristics. Flavor exhibits attributes of dark fruit, brown sugar, and caramel but is still bright and drinkable. Where’s the 11%??? Truly INVISIBLE!!! I’m thinkin’ people are rating this not knowing how intoxicated they actually are!!! Great beer!!! Boutip (2371), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 20, 2008 Courtesy of gford217: Poured a medium color ale with a nice light brown foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of sweet barley malt is pleasant. Taste is a mix between some sweet malt with light dry fruits notes. Great carbonation with an average full body and no apparent alcohol. Hops presence is quite low but I didn’t mind since I prefer English style barleywine usually. Not the most complex offering but still very enjoyable. gueuzeisgod (109), Graham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 14, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark copper color with one finger head that quickly fades to a surface coating- leaves some sticky lacing on the glass. Honestly, the first aroma that I picked up was Meow Mix (dry cat food) , and pretty strongly too. Swirling brings out a bit of citrus. Taste is verry carmel heavy, a twinge of molasses. Pretty smooth drinking, alcohol is vaporous up through the nose. Finishes long and heavy, with the very end being tongue clinging bitter. dchmela (1440), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 9, 2008 Pours a deep brown with a thick tan head. Weird to see such a big head on a barleywine. Malty spicy hop aroma. Big thick sweet malt taste, hops are bold and spicy bitter. This could use some aging to mellow the hops. very bitter hoppy aftertaste. Not as ballsy as some other barley wines, but tasty. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 4, 2008 Deep copper/amber in color. The nose was initially sweet and citrusy with aromas of lemon peel, marmelade, Christmas spice (double kick of clove) and toffee. In the mouth it was medium to full-bodied and concentrated yet allowed the hops to show by drying out the finish. This is well-balanced and appears as if it would age well for at least a couple years. There is also a nice amount of carbonation which helps keep this fresh.
