Bottle: Pours a dark copper color with a minimal white head. Seemed very much like an english-style barley wine rather than an american...but not in a bad way. Strong wheat and caramel notes with a bit of candied sugar and dark fruits to round it out. Full-bodied mouth feel...flavor follows the nose but with the emphasis on the sweet wheat tones. Not a huge fan, but still drinkable.

Thanks emacgee! Pours a dark red-orange color with a quickly disappearing white head. Aroma is of fruit and alcohol. Taste is decent, very tart. Finish is full of fruit, toffee and alcohol. Decent brew for the style, but I’m not a big fan.

Bottle courtesy of OldStyleCubFan. Thanks Todd! Pours a copper color with a thin head that disappears quickly. Aroma of toffee and hops. Taste is major hops... way too much until this beer warms up a great deal. When it does warm, the hops are balanced by a strong raisin and ginger taste. Alcohol is noticeable but not irritating. Good effort here.

Bottle from ucusty. Pours a clear dark red color with a thin white head. Head retention does not last long and has an alcohol smell to it. Tastes like an alcohol fused tart wine. Just what I would expect from a brew like this.

Pours a dark amber color with a nice frothy white head. Aroms is caramel, citrus hops, brown sugar, and toffee. Taste is caramel, sweet malts, some citrus fruits. Very similar to Mikkeller Big Worse. A good BW in the vast spectrum that BWs encompass.

Pours a reddish brown with a good sized tan head. Aroma of caramel, cherry, and a little alcohol. Slightly tart, a little dry, not really my style.

12 oz. 2007-8 vintage. Large lasting head atop the dark copper-red body. Nice sugary, soapy lace left on the flask. Brandied-citrus fruit and cherry malt aroma. Flavor begins sweet toasted toffee, then turns to dark fruit and walnuts soaked in alcohol and vanilla. Comes to a slightly harsh, bitter resin and pith finish. Medium-heavy body is smooth and dry. Pretty nice, but needs some age to soften the hops up a bit.

Bonus bottle from tonraner on 3/24/08. Thanks! Bottle best before Dec 2007, which means this bottle is probably over 2 years old. Tried at Lost Abbey with Tim and Julian. Pales in comparison to the spectacular 2001 BA Fish Tail Barleywine. A little tart, but not bad. Low oxidation. Sweetish.
