Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is caramel, sweet and fruity. A medium bodied barley wine. The malts are fruity and caramel, very sweet. The hops are floral. Very sweet barley, but still mostly balanced. Hides the 11% alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet with a touch of alcohol bite. puzzl (2619), New York, New York, USA

Lost over half the bottle. Gimme a break. Aroma is thin, vineous. Old sweet, sweaty flavor, remnants of hops and carboardy characteristics. Overaged, for sure. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 30, 2007 Obtained from a trade with elmatador00. Pours an opaque amber with a creamy beige head that fades to a spotty film. Sweet and vinous nose with caramel, toffee, brown sugar, nuts and pitted fruit. The flavour is sugary sweet with nuts, port-like butterscotch and alfalfa notes, fruity, leafy hops, fig and plenty of caramel. There are definitely notes of oxidation, but it does not come off as astringent. Too sweet for my taste. The mouthfeel is full and sticky with well-matched tingly carbonation. Nice warming in the cockles. tytoanderso (1387), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2007 Bottle from lb4lb. Rich aroma of sweet caramel malt, dough, hops and a hint of alcohol. Pours full, rich amber with a big, creamy off-white head that lasts forever. Quite sweet. In fact, this is one hell of a sweet barleywine. Needs some more hops to balance. Maple syrup, melted caramel with the faintest hint of hops. Big and rich on the palate. Finishes with a blast of alcohol hotness and some needed hoppy dryness. Thanks Deniz! aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 21, 2007 Nut and ripe fruit laden nose with a touch of astringency. Big and full on the palate with mild oxidation and iso-valeric characters. Touch of diacetyl at mid-palate leads to much dark fruit at the finish. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 21, 2007 Bottle. A redish coloured beer with a huge beige head. The aroma and taste is of caramel malt, fruits and bread. Medium to full body with a sweet finish, a bit to sweet and sugarish. Papsoe (14996), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Clear, dark, amber golden with a creamy, beige head leaving some lacework. Fat aroma of caramel and aroma hops. Quite full-bodied, somewhat sticky sugar and caramel accents. Some floral accents and some bitterness in the finish. Not very balanced. 171107 unclemattie (2414), Georgia, USA
