June ’09....Ruddy brown..just a skimming of foam....nothin’ but malts...strong malts on the nose...Frank smells a burnt pound cake...I only smell the sweetness of it....deep full and pungent with hop undertones...thick syrupy cereal sweet...alcohol abundant...bitter sweet vanilla--not too shabby...its simple and a little cakey tasting...light lacing--just dandy, but I could use more dimension in this bottle

12 oz bottle pours crystal clear ruby with huge bubbly tan head. Beautiful beer. Served at cellar temp with aroma of caramel, vanilla and some earthy woodness, maybe birch. Nice rich sweetness them only a touch of bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied and decent carb. Nothing super complex but just a plain good barley wine. 11% is a little hot but I see this aging well.

Deep amber-ruby with a nice large beige head. Aroma is strawberry, marshmallow, cherry and honey. Taste is mostly sweet with some burnt malt and hop balance. Buttery texture and bitter finsih.

Bottle from markwise...thanks man!! Pours a mostly clear amber color with no real head to speak of. Aroma consists of toffee, madera wine, bread, yeast, floral hops and bitter orange peel. Flavor is really nice. Sweet with a great little hop bite. I get almonds, honey, orange peel, booze and some light brown sugar. This is a really good barleywine. DR does it again!

Barleywine’s aren’t a typical style I drink a lot, but I really enjoy them. And Duck Rabbit’s offering of one is outstanding. The beers a dark amber color with a tan head that leaves a good amount of lacing. The aroma is of bread, caramel malt and bright hops. The body is full and delicious, with more notes of bread, earth, caramel, hops and grass. There’s a bit of a hint of alcohol in the finish, along with some brighter notes of hops and citrus.

Sampled at another monday night football tasting over at scottyp’s. Sampled blind with 6 others. All poured a clear amber red. Good solid example of the style. Has a bready quality, with a background floral hop note.

Thanks ucusty! Pours a dark, muddy reddish brown with a rust colored head that disappears fast. Dark fruit aroma with alcohol and caramel. Very sweet flavor of fruit with a touch of burnt toast and molasses. Somewhat bitter finish. Pretty nice barleywine.

Really big beer, with a huge amount of malt, nuts and figs, sweet and drying at the end. The alcohol is well balanced. Though a bit harsh a really nice evening drink. No head and slightly cloudy golden dark amber.
