Ruby red with a medium slowly dissipating beige head. Aroma of citrus, alcohol, caramel, bread, dough and toasted malt. Taste of caramel, alcohol, medium hops, sweet malt and toffee. Semi-sticky with a sweet and alcoholic finish.

Aroma reminds me of the smell of Stone on brew day. Very grainy, sweet malts, a touch of oxidation and some piny hops. So nice. Head is very pretty, rock, long-lasting. Light caramel colored body. Taste is where it falls apart for me. Definitely a lot of graininess in there, some harsh bitterness, no sweet hops in this. Very English in the sense that I get a touch of cracker in the taste too, but way too much heat comes through. Overall, so close to being a great barley wine.

12 oz bottle courtesy of wagenvolks. Poured into a snifter. Russet brown hue that turns brilliant blood orange red when held to light. About a half inch of tan head that recedes a bit quickly. Aroma is extremely pungent and fruity. Brimming with prune and lush sweet orangey citrus. Malt supports the aroma with toffee notes. Flavor is sweet up front with candied orange/marmalade. Midpalate is tart and malty, and the finish is roasty with a mild bitterness. Thick chewy body with light carbonation. A little sticky but the finish is coaxing from the roasted bitter tinge. Alcohol is pretty much undetectable. Nice beer, not really necessarily spot on for the style, but interesting.

Bottle, thanks to ucusty. Light brown, ruby pour with a little head. Aroma is peppery alcohol, some nuts, and fruity malt. Flavor is kinda the same, peppery alcohol and a metallic hoppiness dominating. Same metallic, somewhat nasty aftertaste as the impy stout.

Bottled. A dark amber beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma is powerful with a weird combination of spices and fruit. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of fruit and light notes of alcohol, with a dry bitter finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.
