Commercial Description:
An American brown ale brewed with loads of hops from start to finish (it’s hoppy and beautifully bitter). Amarillo hops in the boil provide a spicy citrusy bitterness. Saaz dry hops in the fermentor provide a refined flowery aroma. These hops are supported by a grain bill of seven varieties of malt.

From bottle : Pours a clear dark brown with a wonderful two finger off white head, that dies down to about one finger, then has great staying power, and is nice and full and rocky. Nose is full of hops and spice, kinda reminds me of a American Pale Ale. Taste is quite spicey, and has a fair amount of hops and bitterness. Nice smooth feel on the palate. Not much roastedness and other characteristics of your run of the mill brown ale, but i like the differentness and the hops. Was very much enjoyed.

12 oz bottle from Secret Santa. Dark but still transparent brown pour. Chocolate and brown sugar aroma. Nutty and hoppy flavor. Dry, somewhat hoppy finish. Mouthfeel was a bit thin, but this did not have the excessive amount of carbonation that other DR beers have had.

Darker brown with a small head. Malty, Dark bready aroma that is very grainy. Taste has a dark bread/ citrus and fresh fruit combo. Decent feel, but a strange sourish aftertaste. Not bad, but could have been either sweeter or hoppier.

This bitter beauty might be a dream match for a charbroiled steak. For a brown ale, this one’s a lot like a porter (a lot of overlap between those styles in the U.S. anyway, IMO). Tan heads lasts a while atop opaque darkness. Milk chocolate nose foretells the dark bitter chocolate and espresso notes in the flavor. Tastes quite bitter, feels just slightly thick. Slightly dry, with a long, bitter finish. A hop bomb with dark depth. More bitter than necessary, but it is what it is. Big thanks to Sam.

Bottle--Here’s a case for buying a six pack instead of just trying out a single. The first time I drank the beer, the finish was way too bitter for me. the second beer was less so. By the end of the six pack, I was wishing I had another six pack. The head was huge and came out of nowhere and stuck around for the whole drink. The beer was a solid brown with slight hints of red around the edges. The aroma was nutty with the hops filling out the picture. The tasted started off hoppy and with the roast and malt tasted followed by the hoppy bitterness at the end. Ingles 5.97

I’m not much of a brown ale fan, but this was a pretty good beer. Although it literally exoploded out of the bottle, when it finally settled down, it had a nice dark brown color with a thick brown head that lingered thru most of the glass and left good lacing. Aroma was a pleasant malty roasted nuts and other earthy notes. Body was a litle on the thin side, but the flavor was a full continuation of the malty roasted nuts, with only a hint of chocolate. A nice, long, almost warming finsih made this a perfeect drink fior a coll fall night.

Pours a reddish amber with light brown head. The aroma has lots of malt. The flavor is sweet (berries) with some sugary notes. The finish has a good bitterness.

Bottle from ucusty. Pours a dark reddish brown with a huge foamy tan head that lingers around like a bad relative. Very nice creamy lacing. Nutty astringent nose with some cocoa in there. Taste is a hoppy, nutty bite with a sweet bitter finish. Roasty notes, along with chalk and citrus. Very interesting brown. Thanks ucusty.
